Dream Pool Park

The Dream Pool Park is the place where Shen Kuo, the distinguished scientist of the Northern Song Dynasty, lived in his later years. This is where he wrote the scientific masterpiece The Dream Pool Essays. Dr. Joseph Needham, a British scientist who studied the history of Chinese science and technology, praised The Dream Pool Essays as the scientific coordinates of the eleventh century. The Dream Pool Park is simple and elegant, with graceful scenery including Anlao Hall, Xiaoxiao Hall, Qiao Loft, Cangxia Pavilion, and other buildings, as well as a stream flowing through the park. The buildings as a whole are in the style of the Qing Dynasty. In the rear hall, there is a full-body statue of Shen Kuo, and text, pictures, models, and objects which demonstrate Shen Kuo's scientific achievements in astronomy, geography, mathematics, chemistry, and so forth.
