Life Saving Society Life Saving Society is the earliest, largest, and most influential non-governmental charity organization in China. It was founded by the people of Zhenjiang in the 42nd year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty. Its main function is to rescue people in distress across the river. The life-saving club is equipped with a fast and steady red boat, which patrols the river every day and rescues ships in distress and boat passengers in a timely manner. The former site of the Life Saving Club is a two-story building built on the hillside and is now well preserved.
The first civilian rescue team established in the Song Dynasty, mainly to rescue people on board the Yangtze River, was located in Xijindu Ancient Street
The place you can go to see is the social organization established in the Tang and Song dynasties that was dangerously rescued on the river. It is very characteristic and it is worth studying China’s past civil society activities.
The lifesaving club is actually not only a historical building, but also a museum. Its name is China Zhenjiang Lifesaving Museum. There will be such a museum, which is actually quite interesting. I came in and took a look with curiosity, but what made me more curious is that such a museum actually costs 30 yuan. I sincerely hope that China can make museums even bigger and stronger, making these interesting, and museums are also open for free.
