Looking for places to go that don't cost much money is an activity of ours to stretch our travel budget. This is one of those places to go that unless you spend a lot of money eating and/or shopping can help keep the francs in your pocket. This relative calm area as compared to downtown, plus the scenic Limmat River, the historic architecture, make this a perfect place for walks in any kind of weather.
Zurich's old town (Altstadt) is a very walkable and fascinating neighborhood with its architecture, traditional shops, tourist shops, restaurants, fountains, and of course cobble stone roads. It is fascinating because both old and modern, traditional and touristy, cool cafes and hip clubs can be all found here in one cute little neighborhood.
It is nice and great experience.
