Introduction
Castle Hill is a place where visitors to Budapest are concentrated. It brings together most of Budapest's sights and is the starting point for many tourists to explore Budapest. Walking on the Castle Hill Road, you will find the streets, the squares and houses along the way have a strong medieval architectural style. Standing on the top of the castle, you can see the Danube.
More scenic spots worth seeing, the scenery is still very good.
Budapest Castle Hill Budapest Castle Hill is the earliest old city in Budapest. It is like a huge museum, showing the history of Budapest’s urban development and the past of the Hungarian nation. The topography of Castle Hill is dangerous. It sits on a hill 167 meters above sea level on the bank of the Danube. Choosing such a place to build the castle was obviously out of the need for war defense. The most famous attractions in Castle Hill are: The Holy Trinity Square is the central square of Castle Hill. The Trinity Memorial Column, also known as the "Plague Column", was erected by the residents of the old city in the 18th century to commemorate the elimination of the Black Death. Matthias Church (Santa Maria Church, Church of the Assumption), it has 700 years of history. Fisherman’s Bastion, the white Fisherman’s Bastion is next to the Matthias Church. This is a neo-Gothic building built on the foundation of the original medieval city wall at the beginning of the last century. The 7 minaret-like bunkers represent the 7 tribes of the early Magya people in Hungary. Standing on the city of Fisherman’s Bastion, the Danube River flows quietly from underfoot. The parliament building on the opposite bank, various buildings along the river, the lush Margit Island and the distant mountains have a panoramic view. The mood suddenly became clear. No wonder it is recognized that the Fisherman’s Bastion adds a lot to the castle’s landscape. The bronze statue between the Matthias Church and the Fisherman’s Castle is the coronation in 1000 AD, the founder of the Hungarian state, and the first Hungarian King Saint Istavan I. The southern end of Castle Hill is completely occupied by the grand ancient palace. As long as you see the bullet-scarred and crumbling old palace gate that has not been repaired so far, you can imagine the historical ordeal that this famous European palace has experienced. Castle Hill is free and open all day. The tour time takes about 2-3 hours. It is also a great place to watch the view of Budapest and the Danube, and the night view is also very beautiful.
2018.06.05 Even if the sun is shining in my eyes, I must come to Castle Hill to see the panoramic view of Budapest. Ride the cable car to the castle, with a wide view, and the round-trip fare is very fair. The cable car has been in operation since the Middle Ages, when it was driven by steam. The cable car, which had been changed to electric drive, took us to the top of the mountain in less than 2 minutes. Standing at the highest point of Buda, looking around, the Danube is right in front of you, and Pest on the other side of the chain bridge is quiet and charming. As I remember, the side with the castle is Buda. In just three days, I have been deeply attracted by this beautiful and magnificent city. If you plan to travel to Europe, remember to include Hungary in the list of cities. It will not disappoint.
Beautiful hill. 👨👶👧
