The grottoes are worth seeing. Remember to hire a professional guide; the more people in your group, the higher the guide's level and the more detailed their explanations. The only regret of this trip was arriving late. Entry is at 3:40 PM, and the grottoes close at 5 PM. In a rush, I found a "wild guide" at the ticket gate. He introduced himself as a guy in his early twenties with curly hair and a black down jacket, claiming to have gold, silver, bronze, and iron badges and charging 180 yuan per hour for one-on-one explanations. He said he was a man in his twenties. However, he spent the entire time looking at the ceiling and reciting from a script, occasionally reading from his phone, regardless of how far away you were. He probably didn't even know where the information on his phone was. Fortunately, the site is worth seeing. Definitely go early; even seeing it on your own is breathtaking. You don't need to take the shuttle bus; it's not far, you can just stroll around.
Yungang Grottoes is one of the three major grottoes in China and a must-see scenic spot when visiting Datong. The grottoes and Buddha statues are magnificent and grand, making it well worth a day's visit. The only downside is that it gets very crowded with tourists during the summer vacation.

You can really feel China's long history; you can see ancient trees planted as early as the Western Zhou Dynasty and ancient buildings from the Tang and Song Dynasties. It's quite interesting to walk around and look at things. It's a pity that such a great attraction doesn't have more interactive programs.
I recommend hiring a guide when visiting Jinci Temple; otherwise, it's just a rushed tour of the park and not very interesting. There's a third-party company affiliated with the scenic area at the entrance that provides guided tours.

The 100 yuan entrance fee is far too expensive. While the waterfall scenery is spectacular, it's rather monotonous. Also, the shuttle bus costs 20 yuan per person for the 3-kilometer journey, not including parking. Once you enter the parking lot, it starts at 10 yuan. For a place you might only visit once in your life, I wouldn't recommend it and it's not worth the price.
Hukou Waterfall on the Yellow River was the most important stop on my trip. The churning water and magnificent momentum were truly breathtaking. The view of Hukou Waterfall is best from the Shanxi side.

I've seen many ancient cities, but this one is still quite stunning. And it's not just about temples and the like; it contains many buildings representing daily life—it's a living, breathing ancient city.

We booked discounted tickets for the children, and entry was quick and easy with just a scan-to-enter code. Seeing the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda was truly awe-inspiring; its mortise and tenon structure, standing for nearly a thousand years, is remarkably well-preserved. It's a testament to the wisdom and craftsmanship of the ancients.
It's a place well worth visiting. You can experience the magic of ancient architecture there, especially when the sun shines on it at dusk. It's truly beautiful. If I hadn't planned to go to Pingyao Ancient City, I probably would have stayed even later.

Reliable platform to book. Everything goes as planned. Highly recommended.
The Hanging Temple, a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, is located on the cliff of Cuiping Peak on the west side of Jinlong Gorge in Hengshan Mountain, Hunyuan County, Shanxi Province. It is known by the local saying, "The Hanging Temple, halfway to heaven, suspended by three horse tails." Built 1400 years ago in the late Northern Wei Dynasty, it is a unique temple in China that integrates Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism, and is the oldest existing wooden structure complex built on a cliff in the world. Originally called "Xuankong Pavilion," it was later renamed "Hanging Temple" because the entire temple appears to hang on the cliff; in Chinese, "hanging" and "mysterious" are homophones.

Dazhao Temple is the most important royal temple in Hohhot and Inner Mongolia, and a must-see scenic spot when visiting Hohhot. The entire temple is magnificent and worth spending half a day visiting. The nearby Sai Shang Old Street is also worth a visit. The only downside is that it gets very crowded with tourists during the summer vacation.
Red walls and golden roofs, prayer flags fluttering, every step echoes with the sounds of history; the gentle ringing of copper bells, the rising smoke of incense, the camera captures the flow of faith in light and shadow. Sunlight filters through carved window lattices, casting its glow on the mottled walls; the air is filled with the distinctive aroma of butter lamps and Tibetan incense, and the deep, resonant chanting of sutras fills the air. This is Dazhao Wuliang Temple, the oldest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Hohhot.

Xiaoxitian is small in area, but the statues inside are very lifelike. It attracts many visitors, so you have to seize the opportunity to take photos. I was traveling independently, but I learned about Xiaoxitian by listening to the explanations of the tour guides of the tour groups next to me.
The best time to go is in the morning, when the light is best. If you go in the afternoon, the weather needs to be good enough. Inside the magnificent main hall, which uses 14 kilograms of gold, I spent over an hour looking up repeatedly. My neck pain is almost cured! Aside from the main hall, the rest of the hall isn't particularly impressive. A slight drawback is that the security guards kept reminding everyone to leave quickly, which is understandable given the sheer number of people. I imagine there will be fewer people in winter when it's cold, allowing for a quieter contemplation and communion with the thousand Buddhas across time. Once you're there, you'll know it was worth the trip; it's truly breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking.

This is my second time here, this time with my three-year-old. Since we've never seen such a large beach before, we had a lot of fun. However, for adults, the other activities are all paid, so the value for money isn't quite right.
Today, Ordos is increasingly green, and it's rare to find such a small patch of desert left for tourists to experience. There are plenty of recreational activities, and the service is generally good. My summer trip was long ago, but the dark clouds and lightning over the desert during the thunderstorms remain vividly in my memory.

Generally speaking, the main waterfall is best viewed from the west side of Hukou Waterfall, offering a more direct and beautiful view. On the Shaanxi side, there are steps leading down from a height halfway down the waterfall, which also provides a good vantage point for photos. The shuttle bus takes 15 minutes one way, but departures are infrequent due to the off-season. When I visited in early December, there were fewer visitors and lower water levels, so the Yellow River wasn't yellow. Some sections of the riverbank were frozen.
The room was very clean, with three bedrooms that can accommodate many people. It was fully equipped, and you could cook your own meals. The lovely landlady provided a parking space right outside the door. The welcome fruit provided by the landlady was homegrown, and my child loved it. Overall, I was very satisfied.
