The exhibition "Suzhou, an Ancient Chinese City with a 2500-Year-Old Unchanged Landscape: Understanding a City Through the Southern Song Dynasty's 'Pingjiang Map'," jointly organized by the Suzhou Museum and the Budapest Chinese Cultural Center, uses the "Pingjiang Map," my country's oldest and best-preserved stone-carved city plan, as its narrative core, guiding visitors to explore the urban landscape and cultural heritage of Suzhou during the Southern Song Dynasty.
The exhibition utilizes high-definition rubbings, graphic panels, and multimedia to systematically interpret the spatial layout, water conservancy wisdom, cultural and educational heritage, and elegant lifestyle of this ancient city, vividly recreating the composed, refined, and vibrant urban atmosphere of Song Dynasty Suzhou.
This exhibition, with content planning and visual design coordinated by the Suzhou Museum, uses innovative and diverse exhibition formats to bring the museum's exquisite cultural collection and profound Jiangnan cultural heritage to the world, opening up new pathways for overseas cultural dissemination.
The exhibition's opening day coincided with China Tourism Day. This year, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism adopted "Enjoying Quality Tourism, Exploring Beautiful Landscapes" as its annual theme, advocating for experiencing the beauty of culture, landscapes, and life through travel. This exhibition vividly embodies this concept: using a thousand-year-old stone carving as a starting point, it embarks on a quality cultural journey across time and space, inviting guests from all directions to visit the magnificent scenery of Suzhou and appreciate the elegance of Jiangnan.
