This exhibition debuts a new body of work by Donegal artist, Shea Dalton, marking his first solo presentation since his exhibtion, Light Drinks at The Ashford Gallery, RHA in 2019. Above: 'Bed', oil on linen, 2023 Working predominantly with oil on linen, Shea Dalton's work spans from intimate works on paper to grand easel paintings, each embodying a slow, deliberate process where layers of paint are built up over months. His work interrogates the themes of artificiality, repetition, and the intersection of technology and art. By incorporating digital motifs and smartphone-generated designs as the foundation of each painting, Dalton bridges traditional painting techniques with digital artistry, revisiting and refining his works to achieve their final form. Dalton's art, often characterised by a subtle, monochromatic depth, undergoes numerous revisions witnessed in the layered glazes that add complexity and intrigue. Through a lens that merges contemporary and historical influences—from medieval art to Minimalism and Pop art—Dalton's paintings critique the notion of authenticity and self-expression in the digital age. He creates immersive worlds that underscore the constructed nature of imagery and the inherent incompleteness of reality, inviting viewers into a reflective dialogue on modern societal issues. Notably, his solo show, 'Light Drinks', at the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) underscored his influence in the arts. His dedication to exploring complex themes within his paintings has led to his recognition by the Irish Arts Council with the Visual Artist Bursary in 2020. Dalton's work, held in high esteem in both public and private collections globally, continues to resonate and evolve, cementing his status as a vital figure within the art community. Participation of events such as The Ring Of Kerry or The Great Dublin Bike Ride are NOT considered group experience Our first priority is your safety and that of our existing members while cycling, followed closely by our second priority of having many highly enjoyable group spins.
