'The Tent Generations: Palestinian Poems' - Book talk with Mohammed Sawaie | The Jerusalem Fund
Aug 25, 2023 (UTC-5)ENDED
Jerusalem
Join the Jerusalem Fund for an insightful book talk with Dr. Mohammed Sawaie on his latest work, "The Tent Generations: Palestinian Poems". This event will take place on Friday, August 25 at The Jerusalem Fund in Washington, D.C. In "The Tent Generations," Dr. Sawaie brings together the powerful voices of select Palestinian poets who have expressed the Palestinian experience under Israeli rule and occupation, as well as the hardships faced by those displaced from their homeland after the Nakba and subsequent wars. This collection showcases how these poets used their craft to evoke the deep connection to their people, their homeland, and the presence of an Israeli occupier. Dr. Mohammed Sawaie is a renowned authority on Arabic language and has an extensive bibliography of over ten books in English and Arabic, including "Fundamentals of Arabic Grammar" and "Linguistic Variation and Speaker's Attitudes". As a passionate reader, researcher, and Professor of Arabic at the University of Virginia, Dr. Sawaie brings a unique perspective to "The Tent Generations". Don't miss the opportunity to engage with this thought-provoking work and delve into the complexities of Palestinian poetry. Tickets will be available for purchase starting from August 25 at 12:00 PM.
