Are you interested in scriptwriting for film or TV? This 5-week course will cover what makes a good story for the screen, how to create compelling characters, how to distil your story-idea into a log-line, how to plot out your story-beats, and finally what makes great dialogue and well-written action. You could be a complete beginner or have some experience. We will do lots of practical exercises to get you writing and you'll be encouraged to write in your own time so that you can produce at least 10 pages of script by the end of the five weeks. This might be either a complete short-film or the beginning of a longer-form screenplay. We will read your work in the final week, so you can hear your characters come to life. Tamsin is a scriptwriter with over 25 years of experience in theatre and an MA in screenwriting from the London College of Communication. Recent credits have been Angry Bird, a radio play broadcast in 2022 and then selected for the UK International Audio Drama Festival 2023. Her TV pilot script Planet Rising won a development option by The Writers Lab UK & Ireland 2022/23 and placed in other competitions. She teaches scriptwriting at Central Film School, London.
