A Backward Glance: Highlights from the William J. Glackens Collection | NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale

The William J. Glackens Collection and Research Center at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale houses more than 1,900 objects that tell the story ofWilliamJ.Glackens, a pivotal figure in the development of twentieth-century American art. This extensive collection was entrusted to the Museum as the result of a bequest of Ira Glackens in 1990, which included all works of art located within his home at Shepardstown, West Virginia. The Sansom Foundation was bequeathed all other works and over the years has used that bequest to add to the works so bequeathed to the Museum. Thanks to the Foundation’s support, the Museum’s stewardship is enriched by ongoing research, deepening our understanding of the collection’s vital importance.

Asger Jorn: Luck and Chance | NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale

AboutThis presentation of graphic works by Asger Jorn (1914–1973) celebrates the artist’s lifelong dedication to printmaking and experiments with paper, comprehensively represented in NSU Art Museum’s collection. Offering a focused view of Jorn’s oeuvre, the exhibition reflects his restless and prolific nature, intuitive skill as a colorist and commitment to shared discovery. The exhibition presents a cross-section of Jorn’s life spanning his entire career from his earliest provocative works at age 19 for the Marxist journal Frem (Forward), up to his final series, Die Geschichte vom teuren Brot (The Story of Expensive Bread), a suite of color lithographs illustrating a story by Halldór Laxness. It also recounts the artist’s early embrace by American institutions, which exhibited and acquired his prints ahead of those in his native Denmark—support that proved critical during his battle with tuberculosis that resulted in the dissolution of the CoBrA (Copenhagen, Brussels, and Amsterdam) group. NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale houses the largest collection in the United States of CoBrA art, an international, transdisciplinary collective art movement dating from 1948-1951.

2026 GRN National Conference: Run with Endurance | Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church

2026 GRN National Conference: Run with Endurance | Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church

Join us May 5–7, 2026, at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for the 2026 GRN National Conference. This year’s theme, “Run with Endurance: Persevering and Finishing Strong in Gospel Ministry,” will call pastors and church leaders to faithful, long-term service in Christ’s church. Speakers include Joel Beeke, Kevin DeYoung, J. Ligon Duncan III, Ian Hamilton, Jason Helopoulos, Robert J. Pacienza, and Jon D. Payne. Sessions: In Season and Out of Season: Endurance in Preaching II Timothy 4:1-5 | Dr. Joel Beeke * Session One: Tuesday, May 5, 7:30 p.m. Description : Pastors are called by God to endure in Gospel preaching— in seasons of encouragement and disappointment, highs and lows, joy and sorrow, peace and discord, vitality and exhaustion, success and failure. This message will encourage pastors in various seasons of ministry to persevere in the faithful, week by week, expositional preaching of God’s Word, and to trust God with the results. My Grace is Sufficient for You: Endurance through Trials 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 | Dr. Jon D. Payne * Session Two: Wednesday, May 6, 9:20 a.m. Description : Pastors are called by God to endure in ministry through various trials and suffering. God ordains trials in the life of the pastor to cultivate humility, dismantle conceit, and foster a prayerful reliance upon the Lord. Counterintuitively, when the pastor recognizes and even boasts in his weakness, only then is he strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. This message will encourage pastors dealing with thorny trials to remember that God’s grace is sufficient for them, and His power is made perfect in their weakness. Hold Fast the Confession: Endurance in Confessional Fidelity Hebrews 10:23 | Dr. J. Ligon Duncan * Session Three: Wednesday, May 6, 10:45 a.m. Description : Reformed and confessional pastors are called by God to endure in faithfulness to the Reformed Confession. Good faith subscription is not a license for loose subscription or doctrinal indifferentism. The Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms are a gift to the church. Therefore, they should be taught, confessed, treasured, and referenced often in the life of the church. This message will encourage ministers and elders, in practical ways, to hold fast to the confession and make use of it in their churches. John Calvin & the French Martyrs: Endurance in Mission Biographical Message | Dr. Ian Hamilton * Session Four: Wednesday, May 6, 2:30 p.m. Description : Pastors are called to endure in the Great Commission. The Reformed heritage is rich with examples of Reformed pastors who are passionately devoted to the spread of the gospel and the planting of biblical churches, even at great personal cost. John Calvin trained and sent out many zealous young missionaries. Some of them, like the five French martyrs, gave their very lives for the sake of the gospel. This message will challenge pastors and elders to endure in the mission of the church, and to redouble their Spirit-empowered efforts to train and send men to the fields of harvest. Panel Discussions with Speakers * Session Five: Wednesday, May 6, 4:00 p.m. A Vessel for Honorable Use: Endurance in Holiness II Timothy 2:14-26 | Dr. Kevin DeYoung * Session Six: Wednesday, May 6, 7:00 p.m. Description : Pastors are called to endure in personal holiness. Godly piety is essential to pastoral ministry, but it’s never easy. Pressures in ministry sometimes lead pastors to love the world and indulge the flesh. Sadly, many pastors disregard God’s law and the call to holiness and fall into patterns of heinous (disqualifying) sin. Pornography is an epidemic with seminarians and pastors of all ages. The pastor must keep his eyes on the loveliness of Christ and His redemptive work, and drink deeply of the means of grace through personal, family, and public worship. He must pay careful attention to his own walk with God, even as he teaches others to do the same. This message will challenge pastors in all seasons of ministry and life to endure in the spiritual disciplines and the cultivation of personal holiness. Be My Witnesses: Endurance in Evangelism Acts 1:6-11 | Dr. Rob Pacienza * Session Seven: Thursday, May 7, 9:15 a.m. Description : Pastors are called to endure in evangelism. The busyness and countless pressures of ministry can often relegate personal evangelism in the life of a pastor. The pastor is called to be a leader and example of evangelism for his congregation. He is called to “do the work of an evangelist.” This message will challenge pastors to reprioritize Christ-centered evangelism for their personal lives and congregations. We Will Devote Ourselves: Endurance in Prayer Acts 6:4 | Rev. Jason Helopoulos * Session Eight: Thursday, May 7, 10:45 a.m. Description : Pastors are called to endure in personal, family, and public prayer. Prayer is the engine of the Christian life, and a means of grace in the church. Prayer is essential to communion with God. The pastor is called to be a man of prayer; to make prayer a focus in his personal life and public ministry. This message will encourage pastors to recommit themselves to a life of sincere prayer, both at home and in the life and worship of the church.
