Although the location of the hotel is relatively remote, there are trams that can reach different attractions in just a few minutes' walk! The hotel staff are very friendly and proactively provide travel routes! After all, a hotel is a place to rest. The location of this hotel is very quiet, there is no noise at all, so you can sleep peacefully!

Loved this hotel, all staff exceptionally accommodating, friendly and courteous, special mention of Philip who helped our little group ( 4 ladies ) on several occasions. Easy walking distance to Rijk and Van Goch museums and lots of excellent eating places nearby.

I have stayed in a single room at the Apollofirst before and thought the room was a fine size for just 1 person. I recently returned with my parents and booked them a double room and it was barely larger than the single. They were totally uncomfortable. There was pretty much just room for a bed. My single room was fine for just one person. Everything else about the hotel is good. The location is in a ritzy part of Amsterdam, and the people that work there are all friendly and competent. I would stay there again if it was just me, but I wouldn’t book a double room if staying with someone else.

The hotel is situated in the very best part of Amsterdam. Tram stop restaurants and shopping within 5 minutes walking distance. Why I gave only 3 stars? The handling at the receptiondesk upon checking in is terrible. We arrived with an early flight so of course too early. The friendly young man stored our lugguage, entered my passport data in the computer and noted my phone number to alert me in case a room would be available before 15:00 Nobody called and we arrived back at 14:45. There was 1 lady at the desk, helping 1 customer, which took unnecessarily long. So I told her please hurry up and little bit because we're on our way since 04:30. Maybe that inspired her to let us wait extra long. Anyway she answered in a clear and very unpleasant tone: "Checkin time is 15:00." It was clear and normal that rooms were available before 15:00 but nobody cared to give us a ring. Next to my surprise we had to repeat the whole checkingin procedure all over again as, as she stated, nothing was registered in the computer. Next she commented we were with 3 people (1 6 y. old child) in a double room. This item was already cleared at 08:00 with the management. Apparently the communication system, in spite of the small distances within the hotel, does not work. At least not with this lady, who took a long time pulling our luggage frome the storage before checking us in. Last but not least. Athens, Greece rooms are clean and nice. However the beds are terrible, the matrassen so soft I feared whole the time rolling out of my bed. The staff have a peculiar way of (not) making up the beds which we never ever experienced before. The shower/bathtube is very small and very clumsy to handle. The bathtowels are the smallest and thinnest you can imagine and an hotel that pretends to be boutique hotel, in this price class unworthy.

Lovely little boutique hotel in nice, quiet area of Amsterdam. Great to have bikes available too! Our room was super tiny on the top floor but had all the amenities you needed. Nice linens, comfy bed and nice to have a tub. Staff were friendly and helpful.

What a fabulous Hotel ! I really loved staying there, and was sad to leave. I normally stay right in the Centre but was very happy with my choice this time. Located on a quiet street, in an Upmarket area of Amsterdam but only minutes from the Museums and Centre by Tram. Nice shops, Cafes and Restaurants just around the corner. My huge, clean, beautifully decorated room with balcony overlooked the Garden, Bed and pillows so comfortable. I slept soundly. So quiet at night. Chocolates and a note kindly left in my Room on my Birthday. A lovely gesture. So thank you to the kind, friendly Staff and Manager for a perfect stay at Apollofirst Hotel. Will visit you all again for sure.

Wonderful old hotel. Excellent staff service always in a pleasant friendly way. The rooms were fine with everything working well. The bar had lovely wines. Most facilities were within east walking distance especially restaurants, coffee shops and transport.

All staff were friendly, very helpful and spoke good English. Decor was lovely in bedrooms and fantastic in communal areas. Great buffet breakfast. Very useful and timely advice about how to find the hotel. Spotlessly clean. Quiet background music in bar, with great beverages. Hotel located in quiet area on town. Good value for money. Staff happy to store luggage, between check out and time we had to travel to airport. Only a short walk to hotel from nearest tram stop.

Stayed Dec 14- 19. Lots of nearby eateries. A 15-20 min leisure walk towards the Blue Train Stop to Van Gogh museum w/ lots of places to see near the museum as well. Staff are very courteous, spoke English ( my Danish is not so good). The hotel location is pristine, beautiful area. Make sure you say ApolloFirst Hotel to your Lyft/ Uber bec we were taken to the wrong Apollo Hotel when we arrived tired from an 8 hr delayed flight. The room was smaller than we're used to but beautiful nonetheless. Minibar/ kettle very useful & much appreciated. 4/5 bec we were not told of other events/ areas in the hotel. There's a theater & a nice area in the back. See photos.

Lovely hotel, staff very friendly, very clean and the room was gorgeous. Tea/coffee/kettle/fridge/hairdryer/iron/ironing board all supplied. Plenty of toiletries too no need to take your own. If required the rooms are cleaned daily and towels changed too. Based close to the museum district where the Christmas markets were. There is a lift to the bedrooms, a very narrow stairs so not easily accessible if you have mobility issues. If you like walking it’s about 40-50 minutes from the centre of Amsterdam. There is the metro link number 5 or 24 which are very frequent to the centre. Airport only 15 minutes by car. Would recommend staying here if you like to get away from the city noise. Would stay there again.

We're so glad we discovered this gem of a hotel. Our 4 nights there were super, in a deluxe double. PROS: - The room was lovely and warm during a cold snap, overlooking the pretty courtyard garden. There are private apartments overlooking the back of the hotel too, but their lights in the evening were attractive and warm to the eye. - Plenty of hot water for a nice deep bath! - Beautiful baroque-style decor throughout. - The most exquisite bar and breakfast room. - A tiny theatre! - Sited on an attractive park-like boulevard in a smart suburb, yet just a 5-minute walk to the local shops/restaurants/tram stops. - Museums about a 1km walk along attractive boulevards with the most amazing architecture to goggle at as you pass. - A lift! If you're familiar with Amsterdam's almost-vertical stairs, you'll know how vital this is. - Closer to the airport than town, so transfers are smoother if you choose a taxi - about €40 each way. - Professional, friendly and attentive staff. - Immaculately clean. - Superb breakfast - so much to choose from. Pastries can be warmed up if you ask. Nothing's any trouble. And proper linen, no paper anywhere! CONS:- - None!
