The hotel side appears to be recently refurbished and we did have a pleasant stay. However, the room that we had (33 I think), which was on the ground floor faced the rear car park and in the morning there was a coach trying to do a U turn so we had to close the window, even though the room was warm. Also, there were little bugs in the shower which was annoying. Also, surprisingly, the staff were a mix of really friendly or really abrupt (never rude though). With is closeness to the train station (with free car parking) and regular trains to Edinburgh I would recommend. Just need to sort out the bugs and then that would jump it to a 4 star. PS. Breakfast was standard, but nothing exceptional.

Stayed at the cairn on numerous occasions I’ve r the last 12 years ,and have to say we will not be returning. We stayed in a newly refurbished ground floor room which was spotless, booked a meal which left a lot to be desired.Starters was pate bought in and to say it was disgusting was not a lie,was also told the caramelised onions was made by the chef(maybe should buy in) Had a main lasagne could only find the cheese not much mince husband had steak pie said was nice.Tables have table cloths if your a group booking but if your not then just plain tables.Breakfast well bacon was disgusting mo white bread had to ask for some no tea waited 10 mins for refill by that point hubby had ate breakfast, I chose to just have toast and fresh orange.Staff not interested when I complained, staff are not very professional joggers tucked into socks.

A lovely hotel for a one night stay. Slightly anxious as read some of the mixed reviews and pleased to say I had a recently refurbished, spotlessly clean room on the ground floor. Absolutely marvelous receptionist who was so helpful and boosted my confidence as was attending a family wedding the first time on my own, along with booking a taxi and letting me know the arrangements for getting back into the hotel at night. Very nice buffet breakfast and thought all the staff were friendly and approachable. Would stay here again if in the area.

Comfy room, easy distance from airport. Check in staff were great. We were only there about 9 hours in total. Shame breakfast, not even tea of coffee could be arranged for a 6.30 departure. It was included in the price and could not be deducted from bill.

Lovely hotel inside (deceiving from the outside). Rooms are lovely, airy and bright and well maintained every day. Dinners at the onsite restaurant are fantastic and staff are excellent. David on reception is very attentive and goes the extra mile to help with anything you need. Will be popping back later in the year for a meal ; )

On first appearance I wasn’t holding much hope that this hotel would be any good. It is easy to notice that the overall feel of reception and bar area a dated, however well kept and clean. The room was big, comfortable and clean. Food, terrible!

Stayed here through work for 4 nights in mid May. STAFF Very friendly and helpful at reception and the restaurant. Housekeeping were another issue. I arrived back at 4/4.30 every day and despite request my room was never made up. I tried to get extra milk pots off the trolley and they housekeeping lady was NOT happy about it. I told her if she had made up my room as requested I wouldnt need to come get some myself! ROOM I have mixed feelings on the room. I was room 30. Ground floor, I'm led to believe only some of the rooms have been revamped and I think i was in one of them. I also think my room may have been disabled access as it was HUGE. However, I had no phone to call reception and had to use my mobile, no curtain on the windows which was unfortunate as there's a massive spotlight from the Arnold Clark garage opposite that shines in the room. The shower which is nicely designed has zero water pressure. Also the placement of the towel rail (which i couldnt figure out how to turn off) right by the toilet so every time you sit down you burn your leg is ridiculoous. Finishing of the plumbing is also shoddy. TV was a large smart TV with Netflix, Netflix does however seem to have a delay from when you press the button to when it registered. I carry a hard drive with movies and shows to watch and the usb slot on the TV was easily accessible. My room also seemed to be located right by the staff car park which wouldnt be a problem if you didnt have to hear them swearing when most of them finished at 11pm RESTAURANT My favourite part of my stay The food was superb. I was told at reception that I should book my table every night as it gets busy but I think this was an exaggeration as it was never full when I went for dinner at 6pm. Regardless the menu and food is superb. 2 courses for £14 is great value. My personal favourite was the Steak Pie with chips. Incredible. I also had the burger and whilst it was nice it didnt come close to the steak pie. Breakfast was a buffet affair and again was quite tasty. My one complaint for breakfast was perhaps an over zealous waiter getting precious about me grabbing a splash of milk out of the milk hopper for my coffee before I left. Should I ever find myself in the area for work again I would 100% request to stay in this hotel. Thanks for a comfortable stay.

Amazing room and food but adequate service We arrived at the hotel on Saturday 15 April for a one night stay, me and my misses got room 113 the check in was fast got to the room with no issues. Entered the room and it was clean, comfortable, the window was open and it was a little chilly. Bed wasn’t the comfiest but it did the job, we went down for dinner around 8.30pm, I asked the waiter for a quite table and they gave us one near the bar which was semi quite. Me and the misses both ordered the cheddar cheese Mac and cheese, which was delicious, garlic bread kinda bland, and it came with chips, which where crispy and well salted. We also ordered a couple drinks while we where eating and the came instantly. We got 2 desserts but when the server took away the mains I asked her we didn’t want anything atm and 5 minutes later the desserts came which was disappointing. The service wasn’t the best over all, after we asked for the bill, they didn’t ask us how we would like to pay we waited over 10 minutes and my misses had to go and ask as server for the card machine. Bill was 38 for 3 drinks and 2 courses, amazing price to be honest. In the morning the check out was 11, but before we left we stopped by for breakfast which is included in our stay, we had a full Scottish breakfast and orange juice and we could go back as much times as we want, we left and we will be returning soon, hopefully the service improves for the next time. Ryan.
