Reviews of Anchorage 1770

What a wonderful experience we had at the Anchorage 1770 Inn. We were in Beaufort for a family wedding and booked 6 rooms for the weekend. We were greeted by Amy, the owner, who welcomed us like we were part of her family. She has an amazing personality and is a great entertainer. The Inn is beautifully restored with large rooms that make you feel like you've gone back in time, while still having all of the luxuries of a modern hotel. The breakfast was outstanding as was the service. We happened to be there during an extremely rare snowstorm in Beaufort, which made it even more beautiful than expected. Amy and Frank have done an outstanding job with creating an elegant and welcoming inn. I highly recommend booking a weekend (or longer) at Anchorage 1770.

I wanted to give this place a 5 because I love old hotels but it needs some updating. Bed was comfortable and big but there are lots of places that need painting and reupholstry (for the price). The waitress at breakfast was wonderful. We didn’t get to eat dinner there because restaurant is closed on Sunday night.

The Anchorage 1770 is as close to perfect as you’ll ever find. The owners and staff are charming and accommodating. My room was large, comfortable and old world elegant. I could watch the sunset over the water from my window, or from the porch, and it was spectacular every single day. Even the included breakfast was noteworthy. I hope to return for an even longer stay soon.

Visiting with 5 lifelong girlfriends: I cannot understand why anyone would give this Inn less than a five star review. The owners, Amy and Frank, were exceptional. Very caring and concerned about our needs and wanting to ensure we had an awesome visit. The breakfast each morning on the front patio was phenomenal. Food was at a five star rating. My room on the fourth floor was very comfortable, clean, quiet, and provided a very restful evening. The wait staff and housekeeping were phenomenal. Very attentive. I would definitely recommend this Inn and would definitely return to stay again if in the area.

We had a wonderful stay at the Anchorage 1770 Inn. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Our room was beautiful, we enjoyed the porches and honor bar and breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend!

Staying at the Anchorage is a treat every TIME!!! I look forward to having business in the area so I have an excuse to stay. The owners, Amy and Frank are very hands on and are there to make sure your stay is exceptional. The rooms are quiet and comfortable and the views are breath-taking. Make sure you stay for breakfast and Mr. Frank's Pancakes. When you stay at the Anchorage you are treated like family, the food and lodging is an 5 star experience....can't wait to come back.

Beautiful historic B&B! Breakfast on the front porch each morning was idyllic. The owner and team made us feel as if we had a personal concierge to Beaufort. The recs for local restaurants, shops, and experiences were endless! They were always so willing to help. The bed/linens were so cozy! We slept great. Walking distance to downtown to great restaurants, shops and the boardwalk. Our fave spot to relax at 1770 was the 2nd floor in the daybed swing over looking the water. One of our highlights was taking a leisurely bike ride through the historic district. Con: a/c struggled to keep up in the heat of the day. We were on the 2nd floor. Overall, beautiful b&b! They made it easy for us to relax and enjoy Beaufort, SC!

Husband surprised me with a visit here to celebrate our 40th anniversary! Everything about this inn was so luxurious!! From the rain head shower to the super comfy bed to the scrumptious breakfast!! Staff was so friendly and hospitable!! It overlooks the saltmarsh!! I absolutely loved our stay here!! Can't recommended it highly enough! You will not be disappointed!

I have always wanted to stay at the Inn and this past weekend, I finally did! The location is excellent, within walking distance of almost everything. The staff was super friendly and helpful (especially Jay (I think) ) when we checked in. The room was unique and the bed was super comfy. Although we did not bring a pet, we stayed in one of the pet friendly rooms in the lower level and it was perfect and allowed us to go in and out without disturbing other guests. The patio furniture and honor bar on the 4th floor was handy, and the Sunday breakfast out on the porch was lovely! Will definitely be back.

The location is excellent, as well as the rooms and service. Make sure you visit the covered porch! Home is within walking distance of shops, and the waterfront is just across the street. Breakfast consisted of pancakes, bacon, grits, fruit, and coffee. Can't wait to go back again.

Lovely location on the water — great breakfast with terrific service. Bedroom spacious with very comfortable bed. Best place to stay in Beaufort and excellent launching point for interesting walks and boating. Front porch is exceptional.

ZERO STARS. Worst night of sleep ever. Loud street noise (even with ear plugs). Bright lights shining from the parking lot adjacent to the hotel. 4AM dumpster swap (Apparently the owners are aware of this but didn’t seem to care when I brought it up). Mediocre breakfast. Very uncomfortable bed, especially the pillows (another review described them as potato sacks, which is accurate). Owners were very defensive when I brought these issues to them- politely. Overall an incredibly disappointing experience. Next time I will take the negative reviews more seriously.

Anchorage 1770 is located on Bay Street in Beaufort. It’s a very nice place to stay and the rooms are nicely laid out. Unfortunately we had a short stay and could not have the breakfast as we had an early golf time. They did promise to leave us a snack in the fridge for the morning but alas it was not there! Otherwise all good.

We stayed in the Lower Courtyard room. It was delightful. The bed was very comfortable. The bath was small but workable. It was nice to have the privacy and private patio area. The inn is very nice and breakfast was delicious out on the front porch! The grits exceptionally good. Staff friendly and turn down with chocolate chip cookies and lemon infused water a nice touch. Highly recommend a stay here. There's also an elevator in the main building, a plus.
