Cullen Bay Hotel Reviews

Had a brilliant time at the Cullen bay hotel at the end of May. The weather was great. We had 1 day of fog and rain out of the 10 days we were in Scotland for. We stayed for 6 nights and enjoyed every one. The room was comfortable although we looked out over the car park and the countryside. We had a comfortable sofa so we could sit in the room when we needed to. It was spotless. The sheets and towels were lovely, white and clean. A good shower too. The lounge area needs a little attention to make it feel more cozy. It was quite dark and cool but this was such a small issue we didn’t mind. We ate in each night and the food was delicious. We tried most things on the menu and were never disappointed. Breakfast menu was good too. My husband had kippers 3 times fresh every day from the smoke house in Buckie. The chef came out to check he had enjoyed them. Staff were excellent. Every one of them but especially Gail, Marian, Caitlin and Keira although they were all as good. They remembered our names and room number so we never had to tell them when we were ordering food or drinks We can’t thank them enough for making our holiday in the north of Scotland as memorable as possible. We can recommend this hotel to anyone

What a lovely place! I visited with my husband in April and despite me being ill and the weather being pretty awful, we had a really nice few days - our room was great with a comfy bed (most important thing!) and superb view of the sea. The staff were nice, especially Carrie in the restaurant who was always cheery and rather than flinching away from my appalling coughing even took the time to find us a lemon for our (medicinal!) hot toddy. Our turret room was delightful (and I wonder if we were given this one because the staff remembered my comment on booking about the fact this was a (very) rare break for the two of us - many thanks if so, it made the stay feel extra special; congratulations to the previous occupants who had apparently become engaged during their stay!). Good restaurant food and tasty breakfasts. We would like to come again - hopefully in better weather and health!

Another brilliant night at Cullen Bay. Excellent welcome, service and food. Newly refurbished reception area looks great-well done. Food and drinks all brilliant as always. Cannot wait to return, hopefully overnight next time. keep up the great work.

Went to the Cullen Bay Hotel for a Birthday meal and were not dissapointed. Starters l had the Cullen Skink ( excellent) my wife had the Haggis Bon Bons ( Excellent again) the only down side was 3 thin slices of chesse/garlic bread cost £4.00 !!! The mains my wife had the Haddock, Smoked Haddock, Salmon and Prawn fish (10/10) l went with the Burger etc again very good. For afters we had apple crumble with ice cream and my wife had the custard with it . Staff were excellent. Would we recommend The Cullen Bay Hotel- Yes

Very accommodating for an elderly birthday. Food was great very hot and served just at the right timings. Staff were attentive and checking everything was ok. The only thing I’d say it is better to address the customer as Sir, madam rather than pal and sweetheart. I know everyone is different and it’s a personal thing but in a professional capacity, people should be addressed appropriately this would make the customer experience 6*. It was great food at a reasonable price. We will be back we enjoyed it so much

we went as a family of 9 (3 small kids) for a festive meal the staff were excellent and so accomadating nothing was a problem, our meal was delicious and we wont hesitate to recommend the cullen bay hotel to everyone

This is a super hotel, pleasantly decorated in a "beach hotel" theme. Fantastic situation overlooking Cullen bay. Staff exceptionally pleasant and efficient. Food excellent

Absolutely gem of a hotel. Spotlessly clean , stunning views and the staff are all fantastic. I was staying for 2 nights with my dog and the team could not have been more accommodating. Lovely dog friendly room and breakfast included plus a wee sausage for my dog each morning. I will definitely be back for a break with my dog as made to feel so welcome. Highly recommend a visit here

The hotel has has a bit of a makeover in the rooms and they are very good the food is amazing and the prices are a bit lower than the were on a previous stay staff were friendly and provided excellent service the only slight fault in my stay was the room curtains do not cover the window and the two large lights in the car park make it difficult to sleep with the amount of light coming into this particular room. other than that it was a great stay to be recomended to others

My partner booked this hotel for birthday. Extremely helpfull and friendly staff but rooms really need upgraded and cleaned properly. Towel had huge hole, towel rail hanging off the wall, the toilet light cord was black and disgusting. Unacceptable amounts of dust everywhere, black mould or what looked like mould on the roof in bedroom. TV too small for the room. They really need to invest and spend a bit of money. Comfortable bed but not ideal for a 6’2 male, felt like the smallest double bed ever.

A very well-kept and well-run hotel. The room was extremely comfortable, clean and warm. The staff were very kind, friendly and helpful. The food and service were excellent. Thank you for a lovely stay!

What a charming hotel this was! Our first trip here and we were pleased with all the parking bays and outside areas for younger children Free wifi was good and the room was snug and very cosy with amazing views over the ocean I normally have difficulty with eating as I have a lot of allergies and conditions that I need different foods to support but I need not have worried with the amazing allergen manager Lesley who emailed me several times to ensure she knew exactly what I could and could not eat and insisted that I was to have as great a dining experience as the others! I was not disappointed either as the food was perfect! Also my husband did not feel well and stayed in the room and staff could not have been nicer, ensuring food was taken to him in the room! I would not hesitate to stay here again (maybe treat ourselves to the turret room next time?) The staff were all so nice, smiley and helpful it really was a pleasure to stay there!

This well loved hotel sits overlooking Cullen Bay oposite the third tee on the quiky golf course.It has been modernised with new windows and bathrooms however the rooms remain on the small side with fim beds and small flat screen tvs which get only council tv.Service is friendly local and efficient ,breakfast comprehensive and the dinner service quite adequet.Its a popular wedding venue with large function rooms and car park

A truly fantastic hotel with the friendliest staff you could wish for and fantasic food to match. Hotel room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Views from the Breakfast Room and Dining Room across the Moray Firth are stunning. Couple of good walks along the beach or the old railway line which has now been turned into a cycle route. This hotel really is a wee gem and I will certainly have it on my list to visit again.
