The hotel staff were amazing and very welcoming. The food was exceptional and the hotel management really made an effort to help bring in the new year in style. Our room was clean and the housekeeping staff were always available to help with no matter what. I would definitely recommend this hotel. As a constructive criticism, maybe the hotel could make the carts more available for the eldely as walking from the room to the main hotel is very long - it's a massive hotel. Maybe some cart taxi's at certain times for people who are older and want to get around the hotel. But other than this our time at this hotel was just incredible. Thank you La Pirogue!

A thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable stay at the wonderful La Pirogue hotel. The hotel is stated to be a 4 star hotel but I can definitely say that the environment, location, staff and service are all 5 star! We first visited some 20 years ago and also got married at the hotel, so we may be a tad bias in our review, but I can honestly say that this is one of the best hotels in Mauritius. The hotel has modernised over the years, but the traditional aspects of the layout the accommodation and gardens remain timeless. We recognised many of the staff from our first visit with many spending their entire careers at the hotel, the testimonies of the staff are that it’s a good place to work and staff feel valued, this comes across in the service and relationships with clientele, they genuinely care about those staying and want people to have the best experience they can. Whilst it’s impossible to name everyone, a special thanks go to Subash in the main restaurant who was super attentive and exceptional in his service, Jeevan ( aka Georgie-boy or Seniorman ) Jean-Luc, Adeibayo, John and Blessed in the Beach Bar who enjoyed a laugh and joke, but always professional in service. Wendy in La Morne restaurant for again excellent service. We spent a couple of evenings at the sister hotel Sugar Beach, thoroughly enjoyed the Buddha Bar, although found the reluctance to offer the all inclusive menu for La Pirogue guests a little petty. Additionally one evening at La Patio buffet restaurant, whilst the food was excellent, the service was not a patch on that provided at La Pirogue. To us it appeared that Sugar Beach was a 5 star hotel with a 4 star service. The negatives however were overwhelmed by the positives of an adjoining hotel with shared facilities. We utilised the Spa, fitness centre and tennis courts as well as the swimming pools at each hotel for a bit of variety. I also took advantage of a free game of golf at Tamarina which was a 15 minute ride away serviced by a shuttle bus. Reception staff taking care of arrangements. Additionally staff at reception helped us to resolve an issue with our cancelled flight home, again really helpful and honest in advice to ensure we could take the best option for us. We regularly took advantage of the hotels water sports, kayak, SUP, pedallos, snorkelling trips. Big thanks to Roshan and the team for their service. Overall a really great holiday at La Pirogue.I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for those looking for a relaxing, stress free break in a fantastic location with a top beach and facilities which top service across all aspects of the hotel.

What an amazing place!! We (a couple) went with another couple who were getting married, and their child. I'm Coeliac, and I can't praise La Pirogue enough!! Every meal time I was met by one of the chefs (Didier Rose and Diksha Sonoo), who went through the whole buffet with me to show me what I could eat, and also made me food separately. They also ensured I had a full plate of desserts each evening!! They checked each evening if there was anything special I wanted the next day, and it was always there, and very very tasty. The beach bars were also great at providing gluten free food, and I was never in any doubt that the food they delivered was safe. This was my first trip since diagnosis, so I took half a suitcase of snacks with me, but I didn't touch them! I ate better at the resort than I do at home, and was never made to feel like it was an inconvenience! Aside from the food, the wedding they organised was beautiful, and all the staff were absolutely lovely. The accomodation is perfect, and the water sports are awesome! I would 100% recommend this place to anyone, and especially to fellow Coeliacs!

Our stay at La Pirogue Hotel for 5 days exceeded all our expectations. Thank you first of all to Mansi for all your help with all our questions, restaurant reservations etc via email, you were incredibly helpful. Upon arrival at La Pirogue we were welcomed by lovely, smiling staff and our luggage quickly taken from us. Sandy, who is so kind and helpful gave us a refreshing welcome drink and tour of the hotel with all the information we needed. We were shown to a beautiful thatched cottage set amongst palm trees, the bungalows are in an idyllic setting, not too close to each other with a lovely seating area outside on your own patio. They have white walled interiors with lovely wall hangings, and beautiful lamps and pictures by Mauritian artists, very stylishly decorated with everything you require. We had a minor issue with the aircon at our bungalow but this was very quickly rectified by Julien, the amazing front of house manager, who dealt with the situation in a very efficient manor and moved us to another equally beautiful bungalow, even personally accompanying us to the new bungalow to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Thank you so much Julien, you are a true professional. Thank you also to the lovely staff who also cleaned and made up our bungalows, they were immaculate and we really appreciated this. The food at La Pirogue is fantastic. Most mornings we had breakfast at the Wolmar restaurant, which never felt crowded, we were always warmly welcomed and greeted by the staff. We tended to eat in the same area each morning and was served by Anuj who told us he was on a training course. A delightful, polite and always helpful young man who I am sure will go a long way. We also had breakfast in our room on two occasions, the breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit, croissants, bread, ham, cheese and perfectly piping hot coffee. Thank you to those who prepared and delivered it so efficiently In the evenings we ate at the Wolmer restaurant, the food was always delicious and beautifully presented. Thank you also to Dya who was also so lovely and kind, always ensuring I had ice for my wine and providing it even before I had asked, really appreciated this high level of service. We were also very fortunate to eat at the amazing Magenta Restaurant on two occasions. The staff there are so lovely and the setting is so beautiful. For our first meal we shared a sea food platter which was truly out of this world, we were so glad we took the advice of not having a starter. An amazing meal. We were both celebrating our 60th birthdays in Mauritius and were invited to have a fantastic meal at the Magenta Restaurant. The food and wine were superb, Michelin star standard, compliments to all the chefs and for the excellent service, also the beautiful table decoration. We were also surprised with two gorgeous birthday cakes. We were treated like Royalty, thank you all so much. We ate a few lunch times at the Beach Bar where aga

This place is so so cozy. Also super close to the beach, maybe the closest one on this island. Offers good privacy as it's situated in pavilions. Have some quite spacious ones as well. Super friendly staff and sweet perks offered around the resort.

We needed a family time out from job and school - and go it: very good food, big choice at the buffet, dining at partner hotel possible, cosy and quiet cottage-like room, nice sports facilities (tennis, gym, mini golf, table tennis, beach volley ball, diving), WiFi at the beach and rooms, enough beach chairs and umbrellas

A super great facility and very nice staff. Especially Sabrina, Lygie and Ravih. They served us every evening at the buffet and were very attentive. Our room and the whole complex are very clean and tidy. It's also great that many of them can speak several languages. Thank you for the great impressions of this country. Muzaffer and Hicran

This resort is probably best suited to families. With mini golf, table tennis and lawn chess etc there’s plenty to keep kids entertained. We stayed in a beach pavilion and it was comfortable with great air conditioning. It was also quiet and just a few metres to the beach. The main dining hall (I forget its name) was chaotic, both at breakfast and dinner. The theme changes every night and unfortunately our first night was disappointing with lots of foods we didn’t enjoy. Thereafter, though, it was very good. We actually went to Citronella one night (part of the hotel next door) which was excellent. The water sports available were fun. The beach is covered in bits of coral though, so you need to be careful if you go barefoot. We’d stay here again.

One of the best Hotels we ever had for recharging our batteries. Starting from just relaxing on the beach, snorkeling, diving, fishing, fitness, spa-treatment etc. Excellent breakfast and dining on top. And the best: Super friendly staff all over the place! Definetely a place to feel (almost) better than home!

We spent 12 days and 10 nights in LaPirogue and day by day the resort and the staff could surprise us with all their effort to make our stay unforgettable. The key points I would like to highlight to travellers looking for the perfect resort in Mauritius: - amazingly kind and professional staff - excellent food and drinks - perfect overall cleanness (rooms, bathroom, park, beach) - the utmost comfort of the beds and pillows - excellent wifi allover the resort - AC properly working in the rooms - not a single request which the hotel staff did not solve right away - perfect location of the resort, close to many sightseeings of the island - resort has it's own beach, not crowded, and offering many additional activities / possibilities to relax When we return to Mauritius there will be no question that we stay here again!
