Ski Kan was exactly as described: it is exceptionally clean and well run and the whole place has a warm and cosy feel. The owner/manager was very accommodating of our needs, providing extra bedding for me (I'm very tall!)  and offering us lots of complimentary food. I would say the location is very hard to beat, positioned perfectly between the bus station and the Happo lifts to cater for those looking to ski in Happo or elsewhere in Hakuba.  The rooms are basic but functional with a really authentic Japanese feel. The onsen is lovely and open for a lot of the day.  All in all a brilliant experience which I would highly recommend.

We stayed for 5 nights and loved it. Would recommend. They were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to make sure your trip was as good as it could be.  The traditional Japanese style was great and we didn’t mind sharing a bathroom. We loved going into the

A very special experience, the family hotel, the landlord and the family are really enthusiastic, and feel a different Japan in this quiet small village.
First of all, we went to Baima in December. The snow is not early enough this year, so many ski resorts have not opened, and the surrounding facilities are naturally not open. Basically, it takes time to take a shuttle bus to the ski resort, and taxis are a bit expensive.
The landlord’s son would take the initiative to ask what kind of ski resort he was going to today and what kind of help he needed. I said that I wanted to send the child to the nursery. He took the initiative to drive us to the nursery. He also called all the nurseries around him.
The landlord will make some small snacks for the hotel guests every day. The last day of 2019 is hand-made rice cakes. The babies are very happy to watch and have eaten cakes for many years.
Finally, we set off back to Tokyo and booked the bus. The bus station was actually nearby. The host’s mother specially arranged a car from their hotel to take us there. I was moved every day during the 4 days I stayed here.
We are from a big city. This small hot spring hotel is a public restroom and bathhouse. I wasn't used to it at first, but believe me, staying for 2 days will make you feel different.

Stayed to enter the night before climbing the mountain. Convenient 1 or 2 minutes walk from Happo bus terminal at the end point from Nagano station. The next morning, the flights with kamoike, sarukura and Happo are good, and you can come at the end of the work. Lawson is also close and convenient. I was looking at the word of mouth of the reservation site, but the care and smile of the lady general are really amazing! When the bus was a little late, I was worried about whether I was lost, and I called me, and when I arrived, I stayed overnight, but I had apple pie, fruit and cold tea. I put tomatoes and cucumbers for the next day's mountain climbing. I always think that I really fall down to the kindness of being nicknamed and polite and anything if I have trouble. The room is clean and comfortable. The hot spring was comfortable with moderate heat and water. It was a really cozy inn. I want to take care of you here when you walk mountains based on Hakuba in the future.

Hakuba Ski-kan is an absolute gem of a place to stay. Takako and her family were incredibly hospitable, the location is closely located to the ski slopes and restaurants, and the accommodation itself is very charming and culturally immersive. If you want a true Japanese experience in the heart of Hakuba, I highly recommend Hakuba Ski-kan. Thank you Takako, Kuni and the rest of the staff!
