Amphora Hotel

I had a very disappointing stay at Hotel Amphora and cannot rate it higher than 2 stars. Hygiene & Maintenance Issues The bathroom condition was poor and far below standard. There was visible mold along the tile grout and noticeable stains on the bathroom door. Basic amenities were also neglected—the conditioner bottle was missing its dispensing pump head, making it unusable. Poor Security & Unprofessional Staff Service and security protocols were deeply concerning. When retrieving our stored luggage, the concierge simply told us to walk into the "staff-only" area to fetch our own bags, leaving guest belongings unmonitored. Furthermore, the staff was unhelpful and displayed zero respect for guest privacy. Requesting a simple bath towel took over 15 minutes to arrive. When the staff member finally brought it, they attempted to barge straight into our room without waiting for an answer at the door—a horrifying intrusion considering my wife had just finished bathing and was completely unclothed. Between the hygiene oversights, complete lack of luggage security, and boundary-crossing service, I would strongly advise staying elsewhere.

The rooftop cocktail bar had amazing sunset view. The hotel also allowed guests to use their facilities post checkout including wellness centre. Rooms were spacious and clean.

The location is excellent, with easy access to the old town. The cleanliness, food and friendliness of the staff is without a single complaint. The child especially enjoyed the pool, considering our visit in January.

The hotel itself has the opportunity to be amazing. The location is excellent and it has all the facilities, however it really needs proper maintenance and management. Upon checkin, the bed wasn’t made properly, towels weren’t folded properly, glassware was dirty, curtains were ripped, floor wasn’t cleaned properly. The bathroom door doesn’t open fully because it has a rubber stopper. The communal areas looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in months. The walls are paper thin and not insulated well at all. I could hear every door closing in the corridor, and my neighbours talking. Every time they closed their door my room would shake. I probably wouldn’t stay again.

The room is clean and the staff are helpful. The location is just a few minutes walk from the beach and about 15 mins drive from the city centre. There is many free parking spaces nearby and the hotel offers parking space at €20 per day.

The swimming pool is gorgeous, the beach right outside the hotel is really convenient and beautiful
