TheForkUserThe dinner was to introduce a friend to Syrian cuisine. Sham West was an excellent introduction. My friend loved the food. He also commented on the ambience - that it was almost like being in the Middle East. Everything was fresh and flavourful. Service was pleasant and efficient even if the restaurant was full. The only minus point was that the regular menu wasn't available. Only large Iftar set menus were available. We were unable to finish our meals. Fortunately the kind staff readily agreed to pack the rest for us.

TheForkUserWe were looking for a quiet comfortable restaurant with affordable prices. THIS was the best place because it is near the Artis Zoo in quiet neighbourhood. Food was excellent and large portions (to split if needed). Waitress was super helpful and chatted with us about Amsterdam. We will definitely return!

TheForkUserSaint Paul's Lounge Cafe is a big surprise. We thought 'just eat in a cafe' and it became a very nice evening with delicious food. I had a steak excellently made by the chef and Erwin had the mussels. He loved them! The lounge Cafe is located in the middle of Amsterdam Gravenstraat 24, behind the Nieuwe Kerk (DamSquare) and is cozy, the price surprisingly low so very worthwhile to visit. For both the Amsterdammer and the tourist who wants to discover Amsterdam. Because Saint Paul's Lounge Cafe has something Italian and Amsterdam. Recommended!!! With greetings from Bert and Erwin
