TheForkUserThe setting is superb, as is the food which was both generous and of a high quality. Staff very friendly and helpful. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
TheForkUserWonderful food (exceeded our expectations!), perfect setting. Would love to come back next time we are in Carcassonne.
TheForkUserWe had the "tentations" menu ( the priciest one). It was worth the price, especially the re-constructed flavours and the wine pairings. If like attention to subtle culinary detail, you'll love this experience. It really made my birthday memorable.
TheForkUserApart from the problem of finding a taxi from the centre of Carcassonne to get to the place everything there after was more than we’d hoped for. On arrival we were met by a warm and friendly lady got the evening going by guiding us down to the restaurant and the waiting staff who led us through the evening with great skill but friendliness as well. The food and drink were so far beyond what I was expecting that I’m not sure how we can go any better. 10/10 doesn’t do the place justice
TheForkUserWe saw this place and booked before we arrived in Carcassonne. The food was all home cooked to perfection. The waitress was helpful and friendly and atmosphere wonderful. I had steak and my husband pork. The food was simple, very reasonably priced and ice cream pudding delicious. We would highly recommend La Taverne Modern.
TheForkUserAn excellent and enjoyable New Year’s day lunch. The service was first class, and the food splendid in terms of quality and expertise in preparation. I cannot speak too highly of the cooking skill , the ingredients, the ambience and the enjoyment of our visit to L’O.
TheForkUserGreat food if somewhat confusing service. We think they did not put our order through as the tables around us, who ordered after us, were served well before us! However, once we were served it was all delicious and worth the wait. The cassoulet was very good indeed as was the bouquet of vegetables entrée with tapenade. Alas, we had no room for a dessert which looked very tempting on adjacent tables, especially the Valrhona chocolate finger. An apology for the very delayed service would have been nice but we didn’t complain as the waiter and waitress were very pleasant.
TheForkUserWe ate 3 times at this restaurant while staying at the Chateau de Palaja beside it. Fabulous food and lovely ambience on each occasion.
TheForkUserThe place is unique in Narbonne next to the Robine and so quiet. Raj the waiter is very sympathetic and helpful. The food is excellent using fresh local vegetables, highly recommended !
TheForkUserWonderfully charming restaurant with delicious food! My husband and I live in nearby Villeseque and had a friend visiting with craving for Italian. Le Refuge did not disappoint! The decor of the restaurant is beautiful, the proprietor was charming and patient with our fledgling French, and the food - oh the food! It was delicious! Make sure to try the house made limoncello. It is potent and outstanding. My cannelloni was tender, flavorful, with a delicate tomato sauce that did not overpower the dish. My friend’s seafood risotto was creamy with the perfect amount of mussels and my husband’s fagottinis au ragu was perfection. Our only regret was not getting crostinis to start but the proprietor set down some bread with olive tapenade to go with our Prosecco aperitifs. Overall, this restaurant is a gem in the tucked away town of Portel des Corbières and we will be back!
TheForkUserFine dining in a beautiful location & at reasonable cost for food of this quality.Highly recommended & worth seeking out if staying in the Carcassonne area...
_TI***qqI had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The vegan options are impressive, especially the vegan cassoulet, which was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming.
TheForkUserI had the pleasure of dining in a lovely restaurant where the food truly delighted me, just as much as the attentive service I received.
TheForkUserGood food tasty, served well nice crew with a lot of parience
_TI***fqWhat a fabulous surprise! Each dish was meticulously presented and bursting with flavor, complemented by exceptional service from the wait staff.
_TI***ntChez Christine offers a remarkable dining experience with a menu that showcases both traditional and modern cuisine. Every course we tried was delicious, making it a must-visit for food lovers.
TheForkUserAfter booking online with TheFork, we arrived only to find Le Coq totally closed with a hand written note on the window. We then had to walk the streets trying to find somewhere else to eat.
TheForkUserWe went to the restaurant, and had the loveliest time. The owner is the kindest human being. Really lovely! The food wasDelicious. Super yummy !
TheForkUserGreat food and service. Cassoulet was sensational - restaurant had a fantastic welcoming. Would definitely come again.
TheForkUserWe highly recommend this restaurant and it's menu to suit vegan and vegetarian dishes and the normal meat/fish offerings.
TheForkUserFood was ok, location very nice but service extremely slow. We waited more than 20 minutes for someone to come and take our order. Then another 15 minutes to receive drinks. When we finished main courses another LONG TIME to receive the dessert. I won’t repeat it.
TheForkUserWhat a fabulous little restaurant - we were served by the owner, who very obviously is passionate about the food he serves and where it is sourced - he was so friendly and chatty, and loved what he was doing. It’s all local produce, which is prepared by his Armenian chef, which brings a very tasty twist to the dishes. The beef, pork, cheeses, red wine (organic and local), the Cremant de Limoux, the service, the atmosphere - everything, we would recommend. A chance find and so pleased that we went! I’d definitely go again if we’re staying longer, but sadly we leave Carcassonne today.
