TheForkUserWe had a lovely experience at The Malt Shovel, staff were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. The pub itself felt very festive and cozy, perfect for the Winter ahead and a very inviting bar and selection. The food we ordered was delicious, 3 out of 4 of us ordered the pie of the day which was delicious along with accompaniments and a very good portion. We will definitely be back, and we very much enjoyed the pub quiz. On the pricier side but we had an offer through the APP so that helped.

My friend who accompanied me this evening is of Indian descent, and I completely trust her opinion.My palate is not used to very hot-spicy food. Some of my choices tonight were a bit spicier than I would prefer, but I ate every bit as it all was so beautifully prepared and delicious.My friend thought the meal was excellent in every way.The service was impeccable. My friend was running 30 minutes late, and I advised the maitre d’ of this upon my arrival, while promising to vacate the table at 8, regardless. He couldn’t have been nicer about seating me immediately anyway.The room is also beautiful. I highly recommend this restaurant and would absolutely return when I visit London again.

TheForkUserThe restaurant's look and music recreate really well the typical atmosphere of French bistrots. The food was delicious, and the value for money of the Fork menu was excellent BUT we were sat next to a couple who spent the entire time on their computers and face-timing friends and family members really loud. We politely mentioned that we would appreciate if they could be a bit quieter, but they didn't understand why, so got a bit quiter indeed but carried on face-timing until we left. The staff could obviously see what was going on but did not bother. If I were the staff, I would have asked them to go in a coffee shop or a McDo rather than being in a restaurant trying to display a certain level of standing. I was also surprised when we were told to put our coats on the "cloackroom" hangers ourselves... of course, nothing we can't do, but if you're playing the elegance card, I would have expected the staff to do it (like they do in most restaurants of similar standing, to be honest).
