Nice spot by the canal. The terrace was great for a sunny afternoon pint.

Came by for the lamb roast. Really tender, loved the mint sauce. Staff were polite. It was a quiet Sunday lunch, just what I needed.

I had an amazing experience at this pub, with a lively atmosphere and attentive service. The food was delicious, and I can't wait to return!

The Sunday roast was spot on! The Yorkshire pudding was huge, which I loved. Everything tasted fresh and the price felt fair. They also take the Blue Light card on Sundays, which is a nice touch.

The Death in Venice cocktail was a total vibe! Perfect for catching up with friends. They even do Negronis by the bottle 🍸

Quick lunch spot. Staff were friendly and efficient. Got my order in and out fast. Perfect for a quick bite between meetings. Place is clean and tidy, which is a plus.

Perfect place to catch the game with friends! The staff were so on it even when it was rammed. We had to book a table weeks in advance, but it was worth it for the atmosphere.

The private room was perfect for our group. What really stood out was the staff's attentiveness - they were so considerate without being intrusive. Made the evening flow beautifully.

Been coming here for years, and the staff are always spot on. Even when it's packed on a Friday night, they remember what I usually drink and keep an eye on my glass. That kind of consistent service is why I keep coming back.

Grabbed a quick lunch here. It's a big pub, lots of space and comfy sofas. Perfect for a fast bite and a bit of a sit-down before heading back.

Reliable spot for a pint. The rear terrace overlooking the river is spacious and quiet, perfect for unwinding after work. Service was prompt, got my drink quickly. A solid choice for the location.

The outdoor tables are a lovely little sun trap. Staff were friendly, and the Guinness was well-kept. A comfortable spot to while away an afternoon.

This pub has a great atmosphere, especially during rugby matches, and the drinks were good, making it a fun place to visit.

The Sunday roast is a solid choice. I really appreciated the generous portion of fresh, seasonal vegetables that came with it. The pork crackling was crisp, and the roast potatoes still had a nice texture even though we dined later. A good, hearty meal.

Best pizza I’ve had in ages, even compared to Rome. Grabbed a quick lunch here, super fast service. The pub is nice and roomy inside. They only do pizza, but it’s a proper good one.

Had a work lunch here for a big group. Food came out quick and hot, which was a relief. Staff kept things moving smoothly. No fuss, got us in and out on time.

The Sunday roast was pretty good. We had the sharing lamb leg - decent portion for the price. The Belvedere room is a bright, pleasant spot for a relaxed lunch.

Love catching a game here. The energy is just right - buzzing but you can still hear your mates. Staff are on it, drinks kept coming without having to flag anyone down. Solid spot for a match.

Lovely old pub, always busy. The food looked fantastic on other tables, but the portions seemed a bit small for the price. My fish and chips was £18, and honestly, I was still a bit peckish afterwards.

Been going here for years, it's a proper local. Staff know your name, and the prices haven't gone mad like other places. Live music on Fridays is a nice touch, keeps the place lively.

It was my Grandson's First Birthday - we had been eating sausage Rolls and sandwiches all day but by the evening needed a proper meal !! We read reviews and it sounded good so we gave it a try. We are not local so it was our first time. We have been to various carveries before but I have to say your food was the best I had eaten at this type of Restaurant. All the meat was tender and moist and the roast potatoes in beef fat were the best ever. In fact all the vegetables were lovely. we agreed that on our next visit to Southend we would take my daughter, her husband and our Grandson for a treat. The atmosphere was cosy and the staff were all friendly and helpful. In particular our waitress Mandy was really friendly and funny. It really made a difference to our visit. we will recommend and be back next time we are in the area.

Just popped in for a quick drink with a friend. Ordered on the app and it was at our table in minutes. Perfect for a spontaneous catch-up when you don't want a whole meal. The vibe was nice and relaxed.

Collins at the bar really knew his stuff. He suggested a cocktail I'd never have ordered myself, and it was spot on. Great energy behind the bar too, kept things lively. A real pro.

Lovely spot on a cold day. The open log fire was just right, made the whole place feel really cosy. Had the veggie lasagne and a pint of Spitfire, all very solid.

Dog-friendly spot, they had treats at the bar for my pup which was nice. We sat outside. The portion for the fish and chips was decent for the price, not huge but okay.

Really liked the vibe here. The menu's got a bit of everything, which was nice for a first visit. I went for the fish and chips – the batter was super crispy and the chips were proper chunky. Solid pint to go with it.

The cocktails were a bit pricey, but the setting in the old opera house is incredible.

Service was quick and friendly, even with special requests.

Breakfast was solid, but dinner felt a bit pricey. Their wine list had some nice options for the evening menu, though.

The food was excellent and service very good. We were seated next to a group of five who were swearing and being annoying. We discreetly asked to be moved and this was accommodated without fuss. Felt sorry for the waitress who had to continue serving such rude people.
