We had a wonderful stay at Tofuya Resort & Spa Izu last month. The resort is beautifully nestled in a peaceful, green setting with stunning views and fresh air. The onsen and spa facilities were excellent — the hot springs were relaxing and well-maintained, perfect after a day of exploring Izu. Very beautiful hotel...nicely built. We had a 90m2 Maisonette for 3 adults. Unfortunately, our accommodation was one of three that aren't riverside, and there was quite a bit of noisy foot traffic. The apartment is pretty but poorly laid out; the beds are upstairs, while downstairs there's the bathroom and a huge, useless table. Dinner was very good and plentiful. Breakfast, as always in Japan, was complicated because you can only choose a set menu, and you only end up eating about a third of it. The service was very friendly. The thermal bath (onsen) was very small. There's no hammam or fitness room.

we had such a quality time at Kokuya, lovely ryokan with a long history but it is very clean and comfortable. Our room is by the river, the sound of stream is so soothing. This is a nice quiet area with good privacy. We climbed to Fujisan himi hill and saw the Mt. Fuji from distance, it was worth it. All meals are good, great service. Wish we had stayed more days.

A beautiful property with traditional Japanese architecture. Both the Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were exquisite. We thoroughly enjoyed the comfortable outdoor public onsen, as well as the very relaxing private bath (just be sure to book in advance!). Most importantly, I want to express my sincere gratitude to Ms. Umakoshi. My husband felt unwell during the night, and she provided us with so much help and support. Thank you so much for your kindness!

Pregnancy trip – the hotel was very clean and thoughtful! The restaurant provided a special meal for pregnant women, with no raw food and no caffeine. The restaurant even provided cushions and shawls – so considerate! Dinner and breakfast were both delicious! So many colors of yukata to choose from!
