Mandarin Oriental Shenzhen

I recently stayed at the Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen, and they thoughtfully prepared a baby bathtub and a crib for us. The location is absolutely fantastic, with a shopping mall right downstairs. Traveling with a baby can be quite a hassle, so I requested extra bottled water from housekeeping via their service WeChat. They responded promptly and delivered the water and towels right on time. The room was extremely comfortable with a stunning view. The overall stay was exceptional. Also, due to my schedule, I needed a late checkout, and the hotel did their best to accommodate my request. Highly recommended!

Honestly, the service team was so inconsistent it was speechless, with too many frustrating examples to list 😅. The concierge downstairs was excellent, and the lobby front desk staff were professional and good. However, the room attendants seemed quite young, possibly untrained, and their compensation might be average. They were completely clueless about the binoculars, laundry service, and minibar 😅. The male staff at the fitness center were very enthusiastic and provided professional and thorough guidance. But the changing room cleaner, an old man, would work right next to you, silently trying to shoo you away, and when asked a question, his tone was sarcastic… My companion mentioned that the female attendants were bad, ignoring her and chatting/playing on their phones nearby. I also observed the same situation during my visit 😅. The afternoon tea at the lounge was quite sparse (though it seemed better for foreigners**), but the evening service and food quality were excellent and attentive. Overall, if I hadn't been unable to book at Dongwan, I wouldn't have bothered going here. Every staff member at breakfast was professional, thumbs up. Some facilities in the executive room were showing their age; the minibar had a rusty smell 😂, likely due to prolonged disuse without replacement, but the room attendant was still enthusiastic. The hallway carpet was old, and the air freshener had an unsettling, somewhat rancid smell. Overall, for 5k a night, it felt worse than some 2k-3k-a-night hotels. To an NPC, this is the most disappointing fan I've ever stayed at. Now I understand why my boss specifically said not to sign a contract with this place.

Overall, the stay was excellent. The hotel boasts a prime location directly opposite the Convention and Exhibition Center. The room was clean and tidy, offering great city views. A special thank you to Sahar at the front desk for patiently answering all our questions and handling our requests with professionalism and warmth. The service all around was top-notch. I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Shenzhen. Highly recommended!

Top-notch service, surpassing the MOs in Beijing and Shanghai. The absolute top choice for trips to Shenzhen; every single staff member at the hotel is extremely warm and dedicated. A high-rise hotel with expansive views and phenomenal scenery.
