We just left Villa 106 after a week and feel compelled to write a review, so that others will know what they are getting into. Hopefully the owners start taking the property seriously. First: you are staying on the Ritz Carlton property, which normally would be great: a villa at the Turtle Bay resort. Here's the catch. Because Villa 106 is privately held, and isn't rented out like other villas are by the Ritz Carlton, you can't use a lot of the amenities at the resort. For example, if you try to use the main pools, you'll be told: Oh, you privately reserved the villa, you can't use our pools. (There's a small one you are allowed to use.) We tried to make reservations at the restaurants, but were told: unlike everyone else at the resort, we unfortunately can't let you eat here, because...you reserved Villa 106, so you'll have to drive somewhere else to eat. It isn't just that they wouldn't let us make reservations—they literally wouldn't let us eat in the restaurant (waiting and eating at the bar was permitted). There's more. You know this kind of place: it's the place where the coffee machine hasn't been cleaned or replaced in years, and makes stale-tasting coffee. The faucets leak because the owner hasn't cared enough to fix them. The sprayer in the kitchen sink hangs down and is broken because they didn't care enough to fix them. They leave you tiny shampoos and a few rolls of toilet paper, but...you need to go to the store and get your own (fine for some places, but not for what they are charging). The list goes on: you can stay there and things sort of work, but it's clear that there's been neglect—which there wouldn't be, probably, if the Ritz Carlton had been taking care of the property instead of private owners. To be sure, not everything is bad. The location is great if you like Turtle Bay. But basically, Villa 106 shouldn't be called a resort-quality villa. I would say the quality is not even that of a hotel, but rather a cheap motel that the owners simply bought and forgot as long as it's bringing in money. We wouldn't stay there again. My strong recommendation to the owners: 1) first, work something out with the resort so that if you stay in Villa 106, you can be treated like others at the resort, and 2) take a few thousand dollars and fix the place up. It won't take much. Some paint touch-up, some new faucets, some new kitchen stuff, etc. could make it a great place instead of what feels like a seaside motel.
