Big Island Retreat

The place is old; however, effort was made to keep everything presentable. Ana Maria went out of her way to make my stay pleasant.

Great little place tucked away 5 mins from Kahalu'u bay making it a great base for water activities and quieter than the locations downtown. The property was surrounded by lots of trees, plants and local wildlife. Supermarkets were close by with some options for food and the property was well equipped for reheating food or even cooking if needed. parking was offered but we didn't need it. The room was clean and the open air design still kept us cool though we would have some company from lizards and bugs every now and then, it didn't bother us. Great stay and hospitality, would stay here again!

The property was beautiful. I would entertain staying in a different room, but we did not have a bathroom in our room so we had to walk across the way in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. You could hear every conversation and the unit above us was very loud. Just be ready for a 530am or 6am wake up call.

Room was still being cleaned when we checked in. Mop was very old and dingy and smelly. I wouldn’t have booked here if I knew there was no A/C. Run down and dirty

Too many mosquitoes in the room. Too many opened screens so the mosquitoes entered the room freely. The room was too hot during the day. I am not coming back with this hotel

Loved staying here. Beautiful location and surroundings. If I make it back to the Big Island, I’ll be back.

Great middle spot. Close to the beach but away from the main tourist attractions.

We had a great stay. The staff was very helpful and responsive with recommendations for the island. Location was fantastic near a snorkelling beach. We stayed in the Surfer Room which had a separate bathroom to go through the outside, it wasn’t bad but something to keep in mind. Overall a great stay! A reminder there is no AC.

The Big Island retreat offered comfortable accommodations with a well-equipped kitchenette. Self check-in was easy, and the managers were responsive and easy to reach by text. Parking was tight but manageable. The location was convenient, within walking distance of Kahaluʻu Beach Park.
