Chablé Maroma

Visited as a birthday gift for my husband and left utterly disappointed. This is not a five-star hotel, far from it. I genuinely don’t understand how this property is part of Leading Hotels of the World. Rooms We were “upgraded” to a ground-floor jungle room. Unfortunately, the room was dark, had a persistent damp/moldy smell, and the shower smelled like sewage for the entirety of our stay. The couch by the bed, directly in our line of sight every morning, was visibly stained. To top it off, a floorboard cracked simply from stepping on it. For a hotel charging $900 per night, this is unacceptable. See the attached photos and decide for yourself whether this meets five-star standards. Food Bu’ul was excellent. Everything else ranged from mediocre to forgettable. The main restaurant and pool food were average at best. I’ve had significantly better tacos in New York City. Prices are also wildly inflated. Approximately $15 for a tiny taco and $25 for a margarita before tip. Service The staff was consistently polite, but the service was disorganized and well below five-star expectations. A few examples: - The room doors have an extremely unintuitive locking mechanism. No one bothered explaining it during check-in or the room tour. - Upon arrival, four staff members, in uniform, were playing volleyball on the beach. No one acknowledged us or offered water or a drink. - We emailed the concierge, front desk, and manager at 12pm requesting help with some dinner and activity reservations and didn’t receive a response until the following day at 10am acknowledging the message and saying they would get back to us. No one ever bothered to actually help with any bookings. - One day, our coffee pods in our room were not replenished. After calling housekeeping, only decaf pods were delivered, despite us not having used any. We had to call again to receive regular coffee. Beach The beach itself is undeniably beautiful. It is cleaned every morning, though the machinery leaves visible tracks in the sand all day long. Walk just five minutes beyond the hotel, however, and you’ll quickly discover where the trash ends up. Ambiance Something about the atmosphere feels off. While the dune-side pool overlooking the water is stunning, the main area feels like a massive concrete structure with sparse decor and oddly poor music choices. It lacks warmth, cohesion, and any real sense of luxury. Final Verdict At $900 per night, this hotel is a complete rip-off and one of the worst values we’ve experienced in a long time. If you’re spending this kind of money, do yourself a favor and spend slightly more to stay at the Belmond. We went there for dinner one evening and it was, in every way, spectacular.

The hotel is great: a stunning beach, nice rooms and facilities and quite attentive friendly service. So if you are lucky and there is no large event going on, it is a fantastic experience, the beach is really outstanding and it is so peaceful. For 3 days our stay was pretty much ruined by a large loud group celebrating a wedding. They were occupying all space, causing non-stop noise and evenings were loud parties with drunk people shouting at night. We felt like second class guests and always had to escape. For that class of hotel, I find it pretty unacceptable, the deal should be you either rent the whole place or it should not be allowed. No warning so we could look for an alternative place or compensation was given.

We booked this trip as a celebration of a 60th birthday. Some of the negative reviews on this site had me feeling aprehensive about our booking. But the minute we stepped out of the car (private service arranged through the hotel) any concerns were gone. This hotel is beautiful, the staff is attentive and every moment of our stay was peaceful and relaxing. It was everything we had hoped it would be. The serenity pool room was spectacular, private and we've never slept better. We took advantage of the spa almost daily, either enjoying the hot tub, cold plunge and hydromassage as well as spa services. I highly recommend the hot stone massage and ask for Yesi if she is availble. The beach was clean and attended to daily - and while the water wasn't perfectly clear, we never felt like we couldn't get in the ocean. Food and drink selection is vast and you can spend as much or as little as you choose. Some of our menu favorites were Guacamole and Pico poolside, Seafood Emapanadas (must try) and the Shrimp Ceviche. The hamburger, Filet and Shortribs from the menu at Kaban were also excellent (for those looking for a non-seafood option). Special thanks to Yael for taking exceptional care of us poolside. Overall this was our top stay of any property we've been to in Mexico. Don't hesitate - if you get a change to go, just GO!

Service was incredible. Atmosphere and location were perfect. Very relaxing but also plenty to do if you’d like to book activities. 10/10, will definitely be back.

We loved our stay at Chable Maroma. The staff was incredible, especially Fernanda the concierge who went above and beyond to make the stay special for our two daughters ages 5 and 8. She arranged for special activities for them that were educational and fun. We can’t thank the amazing team at Chable Maroma enough - this was a perfect family vacation.

The best hotel experience in Riviera Maya. All the staff was outstanding. Rooms outstanding, just a superb experience altogether.
