Amatara Welleisure Resort

We went there for our honeymoon. We knew the location was a bit out of the way, so we expected some inconvenience when traveling to the city center. The staff were all very friendly, and getting around by buggy was convenient. We had breakfast for three mornings. While the selection wasn't huge, the food was delicious. However, the water quality was the worst of all the hotels we stayed at in Thailand; it turned our water filter black very quickly. Also, after checking in one evening, we woke up to find ants crawling on our bedding the next morning. We reported it that day, and they sprayed for ants, but they were still crawling on our clothes and other items. I also developed an unidentifiable skin rash (bites, rash, itching) at Amatara and had to see a doctor after returning home. We chose a private pool villa for our honeymoon, but the view wasn't as good as we expected. The pest control also seemed inadequate. For these reasons, I wouldn't recommend it for families with children or for honeymoons.

Excellent overall, but a bit far from tourist attractions. Good for relaxing at the end of a trip.

We booked a villa with breakfast. Even though it wasn't cheap, I must say it's highly recommended. Great pool, good service, and a top-notch breakfast. The beach is a bit small, and at low tide, the water simply isn't there! The hotel's location isn't ideal. However, you can get everywhere quickly and cheaply. We rented a scooter, which made many beautiful beaches easily accessible. The service in the hotel restaurants is a bit uncoordinated, and the dishes are relatively expensive. We tried it out and then decided to eat mostly outside the hotel. There are good restaurants within a few minutes' walk.
