Ayurvedic village located about two and a half hours from Cochin Airport, with Coimbatore being the closest airport. A few kilometres from the town of Palakkad, the village is surrounded by a beautiful park. The rooms are in small houses, all different from each other, some single and some double. Inside, the furnishings are functional but quite dated, as are most of the bathrooms, only a few of which have been renovated. Fountains and streams flow between the houses for a few hours in the morning, then the sluice gates are closed and the water stagnates. There is a swimming pool with eight old chaise longues for about 50 guests, but fortunately most of them are Indian immigrants who do not use it. The cuisine is strictly vegan and very monotonous. Every day, guests are given two treatments of about 50 minutes each. When the resort is full, it feels a bit like an assembly line. It is much better when there are not too many people because the staff are more relaxed and can take better care of the guests. Unlike almost all similar resorts, there is no minimum number of days required for a stay (usually 7), and this creates some problems for guests who are staying for long, targeted stays, as it is not a really resort but an Ayurvedic clinic, with an initial medical examination, personalised diet and treatment plan, etc. What kind of treatment plan could possibly last 3 days? This is also because most of the guests are groups of Ayurveda enthusiasts who stay for perhaps 5 days, chattering about yoga, sun salutations and so on and so forth. I have great respect for Eastern philosophies, but 5 days is certainly not enough.
