Bellagio by MGM Shanghai on the Bund

Having stayed at numerous top-tier five-star hotels both domestically and internationally, especially many in Shanghai, The Bellagio Shanghai is one of the very few that makes me want to return again and again. It's grand yet refined, with impeccable attention to detail. This stay was even better; Penny from guest services was beautiful and enthusiastic. She called and messaged me in advance to inquire about my check-in needs, and upon learning I was with a friend's family, she proactively arranged our rooms on the same floor and close to each other. She thoughtfully prepared fruit and toiletries for the children and even helped coordinate with their partner brand, Range Rover, for station drop-off, ensuring my friend's family and I had a perfect stay. The location is superb, convenient for both The Bund and North Bund, offering Suzhou Creek views, quiet yet central. Another highlight is the fantastic breakfast; The Bellagio's mini wontons are arguably the best in the country. This is a purely handwritten review, and I am extremely, extremely satisfied.

This hotel excels in both design and service. The hotel's design features clean, sharp lines, and the black and gold themed rooms are spacious and grand, offering panoramic views of the Bund from the windows. The facilities are well-maintained, with great views from the gym and a quiet, relaxing spa. The staff are professional and enthusiastic, making for a very comfortable overall stay.

The hotel environment is clean and tidy, the staff are warm and attentive, and the room facilities are complete and comfortable. It's great value for money for accommodation and travel.

Overall, it was a great experience. The room looked clean and tidy, and you could tell the cleaning staff paid attention to the details. I found the soundproofing to be good, and I slept soundly at night. Getting around was very convenient; everything was close by. Ellie really went above and beyond to meet all our needs! There were hardly any downsides; our stay was worry-free, and choosing this place for our trip was definitely a good decision.

Stepping into the lobby, I was immediately drawn to the stunning flower arrangement at the front desk – so stylish and clearly freshly changed that day, it really brought the whole space to life. The hotel's overall Art Deco style, with its geometric lines and brass accents, was a feast for the eyes everywhere, from the elevators to the hallways, and perfectly suited my taste. The cleaning staff were also incredibly friendly, always greeting me warmly, making me feel as comfortable as if I were staying at a friend's house.

I was quite impressed with the hotel room. Penny and Ellie were great. The room was spacious, not at all cramped, and well-laid out. The facilities were well-maintained, and all equipment worked perfectly. The soundproofing was decent, allowing for a peaceful night's sleep, and the cleanliness was excellent. The bedding was comfortable, making for an overall pleasant stay. The location is also convenient for getting around, making it a great choice for accommodation.

The hotel's overall ambiance is excellent, with a stylish lobby and well-maintained, tidy common areas. Penny and Gary provided great service; you can tell the staff takes good care of the place. The public facilities are comprehensive, perfect for a leisurely stroll. Staff members are polite and acknowledge you as they pass by without being intrusive. The overall atmosphere is comfortable, making it suitable for both short stays and longer visits.

Among the many hotels along the Bund, I chose the Bellagio by MGM Shanghai for my proposal and booked a Deluxe River View King Room. I contacted Guest Relations in advance to inform them of my proposal plans. On the day, I got the room key early to arrange for the venue setup. To facilitate the delivery of a large quantity of flowers and materials, the front desk arranged for a service elevator, allowing the setup to be completed by 4 PM for daytime photography. The room offered a direct view of the Waibaidu Bridge and the 'Three-piece Suite' (Lujiazui skyline). There was also a unique corridor in the room, perfect for photos. After the photoshoot and clearing out the decorations, it was nearly 8 PM. Luckily, there's a Huang Qiyun Beef Noodles flagship store downstairs, which was perfect for dinner. Overall, the hotel service was excellent, a perfect experience.

My weekend stay at the Bellagio Shanghai, operated by Suning, was a truly comfortable and relaxing urban getaway. The hotel's location and views are, of course, outstanding. Watching the Suzhou Creek and the Pudong skyline at night, all the quintessential Shanghai charm unfolded before my eyes. The hotel's aesthetic also really appealed to me; it doesn't chase flashy modernity, but instead has a timeless and understated classic feel that withstands the test of time. The room was very comfortable, especially the bedding, which was excellent, ensuring a great night's sleep. Even casual photos turned out beautifully – it's the kind of place that's pretty from any angle, without needing to deliberately find a good shot. This time, I particularly want to thank Penny. Over the years, I've stayed in many hotels, and once the hardware reaches a certain standard, it's truly the people who make the difference. Penny left me with an impression that can be summarized in two phrases: meticulous attention to detail and thorough consideration. Before and after check-in, she proactively sought to understand our preferences and needs. Many things didn't require repeated explanations; she had already thought of them in advance. What's remarkable is that this attentiveness never felt forced; she had excellent discretion, making the entire weekend feel very relaxed. One small incident, in particular, is worth mentioning. Even after her shift, Penny continued to help coordinate and arrange things for us, and she specifically clarified our personal preferences one by one. Guests may not always realize how much internal communication is involved, but the seamless experience she delivered speaks volumes about her dedication and professionalism. Good service is never just about enthusiastic words; it's about anticipating what the guest hasn't thought of, and having already arranged what the guest has thought of. Penny excelled in this regard. It was a weekend without a tight itinerary or any special plans – just enjoying the views, getting good sleep, and leisurely passing time at the hotel. Ironically, this was one of the most enjoyable and relaxing breaks I've had recently. The hardware, views, and ambiance of the Bellagio Shanghai are all worth a return visit, but what truly makes someone choose a hotel again are often these small details in the service.
