We have been staying here for a long time on our way North to fish and on our way South. It is our favourite hotel ( we travel a lot and have stayed in lots of hotels!) and Champany is our home from home. Jason and Bridget are wonderful and their team just the best. All so welcoming and the food is fabulous. You can eat in the restaurant and get the best cooked steaks in the World or eat in their Chop House and have best fish and chips. I always have the burgers as I know they will be delicious. Do yourself a favour and stay here and enjoy the whole experience.it truly is a very special place. And I love Bridget’s breakfast. AMAZING! Thank you Jason and Bridget and all your team. Can’t wait to go back in 2 weeks. Lauretta xx

Champany inn is a very special place. Steak is my favourite meal, I’ve eaten it in top restaurants in many countries and cook it frequently on the bbq at home. I can honestly say the steaks at this place are world class and I haven’t had better. Excellent quality meat cooked over flames, absolute perfection. The dining room is unique and atmospheric and staff first class. Also a separate wine shop with first class South African wines as well as the highly regarded SA house wines. Well worth the effort to get out here and you can stay over modestly too, a very special experience. The founders’ son, Jason, now at the helm and doing an excellent job carrying on the tradition.

In terms of food I couldn’t fault this restaurant it’s absolutely of the highest level of steak that I’ve ever ate. I ordered the South African sausage and South African steak with fries. All We’re delicious. The staff were very attentive and prompt to my needs and were obviously trained very well. Only downside was the toilets looked about dated. I get it prides itself on looking traditional but abit brighter would make it look just that better. Apart from that this will be my favourite steak restaurant for a while. Last time I had steak that good it was at this place the first time I visited

A truly amazing and wonderful experience - led by Anne and her team who makes all her guests feel so special remembering all the little touches. We have been many times over the years and find it is consistently excellent both in terms of food and service, a very special place and the seating in "heaven" (maximum 3 persons) is also magical! The food and wine quality is outstanding. Highly recommend.

We booked for an overnight & evening meal was greeted by Mrs D who confirmed our table in heaven, we then met Eric who gave us the grand tour of the amazing wine cellar. Have to say you won’t find a better steak in the U.K. If your looking for quality and don’t mind paying a bit extra it’s sure a well worth experience, all staff we met couldn’t do enough to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable l guess it’s down to Mrs D being attentive. Thank you all the best 2024. H & A

Lunch with friends. I have been visiting Champany's for around forty years, and have never been disappointed. Never cheap but never disappointing. As a butchery owner, I have high standards and expectations and have never been unhappy with the quality of their beef. One of Scotland's best and always reliable. And the wine list's no' bad either!

We ate at the restaurant. It's a special place. Full of history and heritage. Perfectly executed, top-quality steak and chips. Magnificent, reasonably priced wine-list including a good range of mature vintages. Will stay over next time as the rooms also sound splendid.

If you love steak you must visit Champany Inn. We went as a family of four and all of us decided to go for T bone steak. They arrived promptly cooked to absolute perfection along with our sides which include chip shop style chips (We have been visiting this restaurant for years and to this day I wish I knew how they marinade the steak). You must book a table here to guarantee a dining slot, this just goes to show how popular the restaurant is! The service for our meal was excellent. The Staff could not do enough for us and were attentive from the moment we entered the restaurant. The decor is of a certain vintage, which adds to the atmosphere however it could do with a refresh in places. The menu is modern and varied, catering to everyone’s taste and budget.

Used to live near Linlithgow and we often came to both the main restaurant and to the Chop House (unfortunately still closed post Covid). We would stay at Champany Inn itself for special occasions. Back in the area as tourists, we booked to stay here and it was absolutely charming. Very welcoming staff, lovely comfortable accommodation, fantastic breakfasts and wonderful dining in the historic restaurant. My only minor, minor comment would be that the bathrooms (although scrupulously clean, spacious, functional with hot powerful showers) could do with a refresh. But that is it. I recommend Champany to everybody I talk to and urge people looking at hotels in this area to give the Inn a go. You won't regret it. Often things change and are never quite as good as you remember - Champany Inn does not let you down.
