Mutianyu Great Wall Hotel

The room was great, very comfortable for three adults and one child. The front desk staff were super helpful and the location is absolutely superb! My only minor suggestion would be for a wider variety of breakfast options. This was my second stay here, this time with my elderly parents.

Overall, this hotel is actually quite good. It's right at the foot of the Mutianyu Great Wall, and the room came with cable car tickets, so we were up there in just 6 minutes – perfect for seniors to easily access the Wall. However, the biggest drawback, and it's a huge one, is how spread out the hotel rooms and restaurant are. There are stairs everywhere with no accessible ramps, which meant my family of five had to lug four suitcases up and down flights of stairs constantly. It was exhausting!

The hotel is conveniently located right next to the cable car and gondola, making it super easy to get up to the Great Wall. The hotel itself is like a park, with rooms scattered throughout the mountains. I booked what they called a 'small courtyard,' but it was actually a shared courtyard with several rooms. When I first booked, I thought the room would be tiny, only 11 sq m, which I figured must have been a typo, as it's actually more like 40-50 sq m. The amenities are quite good; the AC gets plenty warm, and there's a small balcony. I especially loved their grey slippers; they're very well made. The restaurant staff are all incredibly friendly, and the food is delicious with generous portions! I'd actually suggest they offer some smaller dishes, as for a solo traveler like me, one dish is often enough, so I can't try multiple things. Breakfast is okay, just enough to fill you up. If you're driving, you can notify the hotel with your license plate number beforehand and drive directly to their parking lot, which is super convenient. Overall, I had a great experience.

The environment is excellent, the hotel itself is a scenic spot. The front desk staff are very responsible and dedicated, always ready to help. We arrived late, and the restaurant was about to close, but the front desk attendant called the restaurant to let them know we were coming and to wait for us. When we checked out, we were waiting for a car, and they kindly extended our room time for free so we could wait comfortably in the room. So thoughtful! The hotel's location is super convenient for hiking the Great Wall, and they even offer discounts on cable car tickets. In short, if you're coming to the Great Wall, you must stay here; there are just too many benefits. Oh, and breakfast was superb!

The lady at the front desk was not only beautiful but also incredibly kind. We arrived late with our child, and she helped us with our luggage all the way to the room and even upgraded us to a family room for free. Plus, staying here makes mornings incredibly convenient. We woke up at 7 AM, and by around 8:20 AM, we were ready to head to the Great Wall. We took the cable car up to Beacon Tower No. 14, and after walking, stopping, and taking photos, we reached Beacon Tower No. 6 in about an hour and a half. We took the toboggan slide down, and it was a smooth, unobstructed ride – an excellent experience! Just a heads-up: on the way to the hotel at night, you'll pass through many villages and towns, so I'd recommend arriving before dark!
