The Dewey

There is no staff on site. Fire alarm went off no one showed up for 20 mins. The shower situation was less than desirable. The property outside was not weeded and lacked any care. Any guest that I spoke to all felt the same. We go once a year to Lenox and will not be staying there.

This was one of the worst lodging experiences we’ve ever encountered. The “Standard Queen” looks beautiful on the website, but the only commonality for “Room 6” was the wall color. We made our plans months ago through AMEX Travel and paid ($$$) in advance. Disappointingly, it was not what was advertised. From check-in to check-out there was a lot left to be desired. It does not appear that they’re even performing basic maintenance and Servicing. The Shower amenities were empty, the recent Daikin Heat Pump was inoperable, and the added window AC unit was sealed with tape and a washcloth. There was no breakfast in the B&B - unless you wanted to drive down the road to the Constance. The shower stall floor was stained by the Amenities caddy and the bathroom sink did not drain properly. Additionally, the pop-up drain was inoperable. This property has SO much potential, but it appears to be understaffed and worn out. We paid a lot of $ for a two-nite stay and, unfortunately, I’ve stayed at nicer places for a fraction of the cost.

This hotel needs a very significant update. For the price , it was not up to par. However , after reporting the issues to the company, they very quickly gave me a full refund. This made me feel very good about the hotel and their business practices. I really hope that they can complete the remodel to make this beautiful old house shine . The Duey , very easily, could become a 5 star competitor in Essex .

The Dewey Hotel is absolutely not an upscale B&B. We needed to check in at Hotel Constance and then drive to Hotel Dewey. The price was high (＞$650) for a third floor room accessed via two flights of narrow, steep stairs that would be challenging to navigate with large luggage and perhaps calamitous in an emergency. The room was basic with a small window. the bath fine. The wall mounted HVAC unit worked reasonably well until it started blowing hot air at 2:00 AM. The breakfast is fine (hard boiled egg, yogurt, cereal, bagels/pastry and sliced fruit. the napkins are paper towels. We will not return and cannot recommend.

You can hear every sound that every guest makes in this house. It is impossible to sleep. Our room did not have a bathroom attached and this was not in the room description. There is an inch gap between the walls and door so there is literally no sound proofing. There is also no attendant on site and when I called the line to request something for our room no one answered. Overall a completely terrible experience, the worst place I have ever stayed

We were not informed that the bathroom was NOT part of the room, but across the public hallway. Even though it was for our use only, I would have never accepted the room had I known in advance. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it but would request a different room with an en-suite bathroom.

We were surprised to enter the property and find no one to greet us. There should have been a prominent sign that said that guests needed to check in at the other hotel. But instead we buzzed buzzers and called the emergency number trying to find someone to check us in.

Rooms are on the second and third floors and no elevator. Our standard king on the second floor did not have an en suite bathroom. Needed to go across the hall to the toilet. The shower stall was very small and the overhead rainfall shower head was very big. The weekend breakfast buffet about what you would find at a low-cost chain motel. That said, the coffee was very tasty and access to Tanglewood was simple.

If you decide one day to spend twice what a place is worth, this is for you.
