Park Hyatt Shanghai I finally got to experience the Park Hyatt Shanghai. I'd heard it was an older hotel, but after staying there, I didn't find it dated at all; it's still fantastic overall. The Park Hyatt Shanghai was designed by Tony Chi. The lobby isn't overtly luxurious but uses a blend of wood, stone, artwork, and Eastern elements to create a tranquil yet sophisticated sense of space. Even after many years, this design remains timeless. The Park Hyatt has been around for two decades. You pass through a bamboo grove to reach the hotel entrance, then through multiple doorways and a high-ceilinged, spacious corridor to find the elevators to the lobby. As you delve deeper, the city's noise gradually fades until you arrive at the sky lobby on the 87th floor, where the view dramatically opens up, offering panoramic vistas of Lujiazui. This time, I booked an Oriental Pearl Tower River View King Room, specifically room 8402. The floor-to-ceiling windows directly face the Jin Mao Tower and the Oriental Pearl Tower, and you can even glimpse the Bund. The charm of the Park Hyatt Shanghai's Oriental Pearl Tower view rooms isn't just the city skyline outside; it's also the interior space itself. The room continues the Park Hyatt's consistent understated aesthetic, never overtly flashy with luxury, yet full of thoughtful details. Centered on modern Eastern aesthetics, it eschews the elaborate decorations of traditional luxury hotels, making extensive use of dark wood veneers, natural stone, leather, and art pieces to create a subdued and refined atmosphere. Warm lighting, a restrained color palette, and clean lines give the entire room a sense of tranquility and relaxation beyond the high-altitude views, allowing you to experience Shanghai's unique urban aesthetic among the clouds. The room slippers were incredibly comfortable. The bathrobe felt a bit rough after putting it on. The toiletries were Le Labo Bergamote 22, and a Dyson hairdryer was provided. The minibar in the room is chargeable, but the butler delivered welcome desserts and fruit, and a bottle of champagne arrived after check-in. Sipping champagne while gazing at the view outside truly elevated the experience. The breakfast restaurant is Century 100, located on the 91st floor, offering a semi-buffet and à la carte options. The beef noodles, eggs Benedict, and waffles were excellent, and the breakfast quality overall was very good with well-prepared dishes. Having stayed in many city hotels, the Park Hyatt Shanghai gave me a feeling of being economically prosperous. The service, as expected from Park Hyatt, was consistently excellent – not overly zealous, but always meticulous, natural, and just right, making the entire stay very comfortable. Truly sophisticated design is never about that initial 'wow' factor; it's about growing to love it more after you've settled in and finding it more and more enjoyable with each stay. This is what impressed me most about the Park Hyatt Shanghai, and it's why I'd be willing to return for a second visit. Many people find the Park Hyatt Shanghai too minimalistic, but to me, it's a classic and very aesthetically pleasing. Of course, everyone has their own opinion, and hotel experiences are inherently subjective. Finally, I'd like to thank Miumiu and Jerry, as well as Tommy Bao from the concierge on the first floor. Their service was impeccable, and I wouldn't have had such a great experience without them. I hope they receive proper recognition!

This was my first time staying at a Grand Hyatt, and I chose this one because it's close to Shanghai. Although the hotel opened in 2008, it doesn't feel old at all; I personally think the design is quite sophisticated. Perhaps it's not as smart as newer hotels, but the service was very satisfying. A big thank you to the front desk assistant managers, Zhang Wenwen and Yang Yifan (no particular order, and all the staff were excellent, but I only know their names). My room experience was also great, apart from some unavoidable signs of age and the smart features not being as advanced as those in newly opened luxury hotels. The only minor drawbacks were that the welcome dessert wasn't very tasty and the variety of items at the 86th-floor Cloud Mirror was a bit limited. Everything else was fantastic.

A very satisfying trip! The hotel is grand and elegant, and the service is incredibly attentive, thoughtful, and meticulous. The breakfast was especially rich and delicious 😋. The swimming pool was a big hit with the kids!

Amazing view! Excellent service! Located right in the heart of Lujiazui, the hotel lobby is on the 87th floor, and the elevators are super fast. The light bulbs are all incandescent, with stepless dimming capabilities.

Compared to The PuLi, Alila, and The Opposite House, The Sukhothai offers a better overall value for money. This time, I got an upgrade to a room with a Bund river view, which was great. The only drawback was that breakfast wasn't quite up to par.

I really liked it. The photos make it look simple, but in reality, it's very high-quality/has a great feel to it.

Long Trapped in a Cage, Now Back to Nature – A Slow-Paced Cloudtop Retreat at Park Hyatt Shanghai Every time I visit Shanghai, if time allows, I always choose to allocate my budget to the Park Hyatt. It’s not just because it's located in the Shanghai World Financial Center, one of Lujiazui’s 'Three Giants,' but because it possesses a unique 'composure' that’s hard to replicate in other hotels in this bustling city. Let's start with the lobby. The sky lobby on the 87th floor is the most unconventional lobby I've ever seen. There's no soaring atrium, no clamor; stepping out of the elevator is like entering the private study of an old-fashioned gentleman. Tony Chi's design here isn't just a style; it's a philosophy of life. The extensive use of negative space, dark hardwood, subtly patterned silk, and seemingly casually yet meticulously placed antique decor all work to minimize the space's invasiveness. Sitting on a sofa in the lobby lounge, watching the clouds drift by outside, with the尖顶 of the Jin Mao Tower seemingly within reach, this illusion of 'reaching for the stars' is a signature opening act unique to the Park Hyatt. The guest rooms truly elevate this 'quiet luxury' to its peak. I've always believed that the Park Hyatt's rooms represent one of the most successful localized designs in China. Instead of relying on clichés like dragons and phoenixes, it uses grilles, screens, inkstones, and the 'Four Treasures of the Study' to evoke an Oriental aesthetic. The deep soaking tub in the bathroom faces the Huangpu River. Unwinding after a long journey in a hot bath, watching the Bund's 'Gallery of Nations' gradually light up below, that feeling of being embraced by the city yet detached from worldly concerns is truly priceless. Coupled with Park Hyatt's renowned bedding – a mattress with just the right firmness and soft, fluffy down duvets – even with the bustling Lujiazui outside, closing the windows brings absolute tranquility, ensuring a dreamless night until dawn. The dining experience also scores full marks. The Yue Xuan Chinese restaurant, whether it's the shrimp dumplings for dim sum or the local Shanghainese dishes for dinner, exudes an air of refinement. And Century 100 Restaurant on the 91st floor offers panoramic views of both sides of the Pujiang River, especially in the morning when the sun sparkles on the water, accompanied by a steaming bowl of yellow croaker noodles with preserved vegetables – truly the perfect way to start a Shanghai morning. There's also the swimming pool hidden on the 92nd floor, which feels less like a pool and more like a giant viewing aquarium. Swimming there is like soaring through the clouds; the breathtaking views are indescribable. While the hardware is undoubtedly superb, what truly made this stay legendary was the people. Here, I'd like to specially thank two employees: Kelin, who is calm and efficient, making me feel completely at ease with anything I entrusted to him; and Susce, with her sweet smile and meticulous warmth that made me feel so welcome. It is because of such excellent staff that this cold skyscraper transforms into a warm home away from home. I look forward to seeing them again next time.
