Bodysgallen Hall Hotel Restaurant and Spa

A most disappointing stay for our 20th Wedding Anniversary and for over £650/night at a famous National Trust property there wasn't even brown bread available at our meals as the chef hadn't baked any. The MD of the dining room never smiled and she directed us to a table laid for three only to have a waitress come and tick us off for sitting there! Having stayed at 7*+ luxury hotels all over the world we have never been treated this way before. Our room was cold so we asked for a heater but were told they had run out as so many guests had complained. There seemed poor staff organisation and no obvious leadership. On arrival, my husband, who has severe arthritis had to struggle up three flights of stairs to our room carrying his own bags, while the "young porter" lead the way unburdened. The bed linen was frayed and badly creased, the old-fashioned wool blankets (no duvets) weighed so heavy they were uncomfortable and daily room cleaning was a myth as two dead wasps lay on the cream carpet for our whole visit. Sadly our view of Snowdon was spoiled by dirty windows. Our final bill had many unexplained charges which we queried, but the receptionist shrugged and said she could not explain them as "THEY" made the bills. We wanted an explanation of the charges so on returning home we wrote and queried these only to have a most dismissive and defensive response from the invisible "Manager". Needless to say we wont ever stay there again or recommend it, an expensive and memorable stay for all the wrong reasons.

What a lovely evening dining at BodysgallenHall. On a wet and windy evening in North Wales, the fires were roaring throughout the hotel, creating a wonderfully warm and welcoming atmosphere. The charm and character of this beautiful country house made the experience even more special. I thoroughly enjoyed the Welsh lamb, which was delicious, followed by what I can honestly say was the best crème brûlée I have ever tasted! The combination of excellent food, beautiful surroundings and the cosy atmosphere made for a truly memorable evening. Bodysgallen Hall really does capture everything that is special about a traditional country house hotel. A wonderful experience and somewhere I would happily return to.

Superb period hotel with beautiful furnishings throughout, and set in landscaped gardens with fabulous views. The food was exquisite and all the staff were warm, friendly and welcoming. There was so much period charm from the 1600 original building down through the centuries as extra wings were added. The bedrooms were huge and full of character. There was anything at all to fault it. The spa was also wonderful; highly recommend both.

Fabulous old school hotel in grade 1 listed country manor. It’s well worth the price for a taste of 17th century living. Rooms are homely but bathrooms could do with a bit of modernization. That said Penhaligons toiletries and really good shower. You can’t help but like the quality old school approach from bags being carried, homemade scones at tea and a large bin end list. Food is the Achilles heal. Not bad but not good enough for such a special place.

Went for Sunday Lunch So disappointing Main courses very little choice Beef. Salmon Chicken And a vegetarian dish Sweet choice. very basic. No atmosphere. This is one of the top Hotels in the area We were so looking forward to to this culinary experience What a disappointment We live locally Will not be visiting again

My friend and I had a most enjoyable spa day at Bodysgallen hotel and spa. We arrived on the morning and had 2 hours using the gym and pool facilities. We had lunch and coffee. In the afternoon we had treatments. The place was calm, peaceful and quiet. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful My treatment was carried out by Roisin who was extremely solicitous and provided good skin care advice. This day gave my friend and I time to relax and enjoy being together. It was a great day out and we hope to return.

We visited for afternoon tea which was PERFECT. Bread, scones and cakes all very fresh. Staff attentive without being intrusive. Hotel took note of our dietary presences which we phoned 1 week ahead. Charming country house hotel, and we will definitely visit again, as well as the two other hotels.

As a travel creator, I’m fortunate enough to visit some incredible hotels, and Bodysgallen Hall is one that genuinely stands out. From the moment we arrived, the hotel felt peaceful, elegant and full of character. The historic hall and beautifully maintained gardens create a real sense of escape, while still offering the comfort and service you’d expect from a luxury stay. The room was beautifully presented, comfortable and in keeping with the property’s heritage. Every part of the hotel felt well cared for, and the attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed. The food was excellent, with high-quality ingredients and attentive service throughout. The spa was another highlight, a quiet, relaxing space that’s perfect after a day exploring North Wales. What really makes Bodysgallen Hall special is its atmosphere. It has a timeless charm that’s becoming increasingly rare, and the team do a wonderful job of making guests feel welcome without being intrusive. If you’re looking for a luxury country house hotel with history, character and exceptional hospitality, Bodysgallen Hall is absolutely worth a visit. I’d happily return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

I won a two night stay in a competition organised by the Times. It was wonderful we stayed in room 1 which was charming and very comfortable. We enjoyed an excellent afternoon tea with champagne and the following night a splendid dinner after drinks and canapés in the downstairs sitting room. Whilst the Tuesday night menu was limited we enjoyed everything that we had in particular my chicken and Eton mess were excellent. Breakfasts were good as well and we left feeling very spoilt and pampered. The staff were excellent and all very helpful. We had stayed before at the sister hotel near Aylesbury so our expectations were high but they were exceeded. We hope to return soon.
