Our stay in the Floral Hotel was simply fantastic from start to finish.
To begin with, the exterior of the hotel is very beautiful and quaint, and while it is situated right next to Rainbow Bridge, as central as you can possibly get, it is in a quiet square off the main street which blocks off all the noise and activity of the town itself. With blackout curtains to boot, there’s no reason not to get a good night’s rest.
The interior more than matches the exterior, with beautiful wood finishings in the lobby and in the rooms. Each room has an ample balcony with a proper roof, well protected from the elements. Our room came with a clean, roomy shower and a Japanese-style smart toilet.
It was one of only two hotels we stayed in during our trip that had more than enough power sockets for all of our charging needs, without having to unplug the fridge, kettle or TV. It also has two small desks (one on the balcony and one inside), both good enough to work on with a laptop, with plenty of drawers and cupboard space besides — two large drawers in the bathroom alone!
On the balcony there’s a tea-making station, with a proper draining bucket. Really nice if you love your tea.
The staff were always exceptionally welcoming, and helped us a few times by booking cars or helping us get a bus (DiDi does not work in Fenghuang). Not only were they helpful, but they showed real enthusiasm and interest in our activities — we felt much more like friends than acquaintances by the end of our three-day stay.
