The hotel deserves the highest praise, the service is top notch, all details are amazingly good. The common areas are extremely comfortable and designed for absolute comfort with a great taste. There is no such a thing which left unattended by the team. The location and the views are superb! Many thanks for such enjoyable stay! Special thanks for Amarula;)

Imagine a staff that knows your needs before you arrive, that greets you each time by name, that welcomes you into their space warmly, and asks what you need to make your unique stay more enjoyable. This is it. From the time you wake up, to the made to order breakfast, to soup in the kitchen each night, every part of this stay was truly a joy.

We had an excellent stay at the Derwent House Boutique Hotel at the start of our trip in South Africa. They are perfectly located to hike Lion's Head or Table Mountain, and an easy walk to a number of great restaurants. We enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere in the common areas, and excellent breakfast that is provided by the hotel.

Our stay at Derwent House Boutique Hotel was lovely! The location was central and we could easily catch an Uber to get anywhere we needed to go--inexpensively. You can safely walk to Kloof Street (just a block away) for a variety of restaurants. The accommodations are clean, spacious and decorated in bright African decor. The rooms have a view of iconic Table Mountain. We loved the breakfasts! There was plenty of selection of hot and cold fare, and they accommodated requests. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay in Cape Town! We highly recommend Derwent House!

We selected Derwent House Boutique Hotel initially because of its central location and distinctive African decor & artwork. However, from the moment we walked in the door and were so warmly welcomed by Patience we knew we had found our Cape Town home away from home! We were simply treated like family and nothing was too much trouble. Our room had a direct view of Table Mountain and had everything you needed to make for a comfortable stay and was serviced daily. The breakfast buffet was outstanding and the a l carte menu was a delicious extra bonus. Overall it was the superb staff and relaxed but beautifully curated atmosphere that made our stay so memorable and hope to revisit one day. We’d like to especially thank Patience again and Luca for their kindness and care during our visit. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

From the moment we arrived we knew Derwent House was special. Utterly perfect location close to Table Mountain, with the feeling of a quiet suburb yet walking distance to the VA Waterfront, Bo Kaap, etc and an array of fantastic restaurants on the doorstep. We received an authentic warm welcome into a beautiful home from home, offered a refreshing drink and some freshly baked cake as our bags were taken to our (upgraded) room. Our main contact during our stay was with Luca, whose local knowledge and expert guidance during our stay was invaluable. It would not be an understatement to say that our trip was hugely enhanced thanks to taking his advice (on what to see and do). Though we mainly chatted with Luca, all the other staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and varied. Complimentary afternoon cakes were a nice touch. Room was a good size with a lovely balcony and views of the mountain. If we’re ever in Cape Town again, it’s the only place we’d stay.

This is an absolutely adorable boutique hotel. The service provided by staff was extremely attentive and courteous. Hotel decorations in common areas and rooms were lovely. Breakfast and treats were ample and delicious. There is a security guard outside at night to provide protection on the block. Excellent Table Mountain views from our room. Highly recommended for stays in lovely Cape Town.

We loved our four day stay here! So much thought and detail went into the design and African inspired decor - only surpassed by the services that were offered and the wonderful staff. For example, on two coolish evenings we found a cutely-covered hot water bottle under our sheets and the electric bed pad turned on for us. We also found in our room a daily list of things to do including a walk arranged by the hotel and places to eat. On a couple of nights we were too tired to go out to eat - but no problem there was free delicious soup, bread and cakes, which are available daily. I could go on and on - but just read the other reviews to see how great this hotel is. Many thanks to the friendly and helpful staff - including Tash and Luca. Of course, we would love to return to Capetown and stay at Derwent House!

I stayed at Derwent House for a week and absolutely loved it. It has that rare feeling of being both beautifully run and genuinely homely. The staff were lovely, attentive, and always happy to help. So many little details stood out. The coffee and breakfasts were excellent, the pool and hot tub were lovely, and the dessert snack bar, evening soups, hot water bottles on cold nights, and nicely turned-down rooms made it feel really welcoming. On stormy Cape Town days, the fireplace was a perfect place to sit and read. The location is also hard to beat. It is in a quiet, safe area with parking and security, Kloof Street is a two-minute walk away, and it is an easy Uber to the V&A Waterfront, Camps Bay, or Sea Point. You can even hike up toward Table Mountain straight from the hotel if you are feeling keen. The team were also great for local recommendations, and the hotel seems to attract a lively and interesting mix of guests of all ages from all corners of the world, which added to the atmosphere. A beautiful, thoughtful, very clean, and very comfortable place to stay in Cape Town. Highly recommend.
