During the Chinese New Year, I brought my child to Shanghai and had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Hyatt for two nights, thanks to our itinerary. The location is truly excellent, situated in the prime Lujiazui area, right next to the large shopping complex Super Brand Mall and the luxury IFC Mall, making shopping and entertaining the kids incredibly convenient. During the holiday, the hotel even offered various free activities for children staying with them at scheduled times.
We booked a room in the Jin Mao Tower (Purple Gold Building), and although it's an older wing, it's well-maintained, and the room was clean and tidy. Breakfast is on the second floor, with access from both towers. On the first day, there was a slight hiccup: staff members at the entrance were directing guests to a temporary dining area on the third floor. Regular hotel guests would know that temporary areas can differ significantly, and at the very least, guests should be clearly informed and given the option to wait or go to the temporary area. While it's understandable that it was busy and understaffed during Chinese New Year, after my complaint, a restaurant manager followed up the same day, and things improved the next day. However, it still highlighted a lack of staff training that led to much confusion.
