Hotel Margaux

Hotel is relatively new , modern and as such is very well decorated with quality fittings. The breakfast area and the terrace bar area were good. The variety of the breakfast offering was more than consistent of a hotel with less than 30 rooms. Points to bear in mind, part of the hotel doesn’t have a lift so some people may struggle to get to the rooms on the second floor. The onsite parking was ideal. The location of the hotel was excellent for all attractions and bars and restaurants. Overall we would definitely stay here again.

Really lovely hotel in the heart of Epernay, finished to a high standard the hotel, communal areas and rooms really sparkle. Only one tiny gripe, the air con had a mind of its own and the room was cooler than we'd like, this didn't spoil our stay. Would definitely recommend and stay there again.

The location of the hotel is perfect - just steps from Avenue de Champagne. Our room was really good and perfect with our dog (terrace suite) although missing an umbrella on the terrace. The e-vehicle charging was simple and good value. Breakfast was fine but we found the service mostly unfriendly though potentially in part due to a language barrier.

One night the AC did not work at all, and the room was way too hot; the second night it ran on max non stop and we were freezing cold. Receptionist said he couldn’t do anything about it, despite several calls and visits; the AC control in the room he said was for decoration only as they control the AC centrally! A room change he said would be a full extra room charge.. Unacceptable! Breakfast was good though. Weird gym hours, sauna was turned off…

It was a good and modern hotel, in a central location. However, I was not made aware beforehand that there is no lift access for the wing that I was assigned in - not ideal.

I’ve stayed at Hotel Margaux previously so let me be clear that I think this was just one bad experience. It is normally fabulous…..and I stay in Epernay a lot for business. This review is more to feedback to the property as I don’t think they truly heard me this morning. I checked in yesterday. Easy check in and as pleasant as normal. The parking option for €15 is very reasonable and I’d recommend using it. The reception area is lovely - modern, bright, clean, classy. I went to my room and that’s when things went a bit South. It was cold in Epernay yesterday and on arrival back to the hotel I was feeling frozen. The heating/air con in the room was switched to cool and I couldn’t change it to heat. I went for a shower (which is great at the Margaux btw) and having heated up I put on the robe that is provided and despite the room being cold it wasn’t too bad. When heading out for the evening I spoke to reception who informed me that heating/air con for each room is controlled by reception. Wait what? I asked them to turn the heating on as the room was freezing and was told that the “summer setting” was air con and the heating couldn’t be turned on. Again, wait what? They did agree to turn the air con off. Got back from dinner and the room was still very cold. The little sleep I managed to get (comfy bed!) was when wearing shorts, a hoody, the robe and under the covers. Still cold! Sort this out Hotel Margaux! I will be back, but you’re on notice! Brekkie is great btw 😉

The air conditioning in my room did not work so the first night was uncomfortably hot and stuffy. The staff was not able to fix it Breakfast was mediocre- day old croissants in France. Shameful
