Shanheshi 360° Panoramic Skyview Guesthouse (Zhenyuan Ancient Town)

I stumbled upon the Shanheshi B&B in Zhenyuan and my experience was absolutely fantastic. The whole place has a warm, natural wood, wabi-sabi aesthetic. The lobby feels cozy and relaxed, with greenery and little thoughtful details everywhere, creating a truly comfortable atmosphere. What impressed me most was how incredibly pet-friendly it is. The staff are so kind and patient, and my little one was able to run around freely without any restrictions, never feeling like a bother. The B&B also has an exclusive viewing deck on the top floor, complete with a guide for night-view photos. In the evening, you can just sit back and watch the ancient town light up, enjoy the evening breeze, and take in the panoramic view of the Wuyang River – it really cures all your travel fatigue. Both the housekeeper and staff are incredibly attentive, treating guests with warmth and sincerity, without any of that stiff, commercialized feel. It’s like visiting a friend's house. In this ancient town of mountains and rivers, finding such a warm and welcoming guesthouse when traveling with my furry friend was truly a stroke of luck. I highly recommend it to all pet owners, and I’ll definitely choose it again next time I'm in Zhenyuan.

Shan He Shi is a century-old soy sauce workshop that has been converted into a hotel, and you can also learn about Mr. Shu Wanling's stories of the ancient city. The atmosphere is truly unique. The rooftop terrace offers unbeatable views; the sunset and the moment the lights come on are breathtaking – you won't have to jostle for space to take photos. The butler service is meticulous and thoughtful; they proactively helped with luggage and offered homemade drinks. The room was clean and comfortable. It's excellent.

Environment: Beautiful! Hygiene: Clean and tidy. Service: Fantastic! 24-hour butler service: Very attentive! Ancient House Qingzhou Afternoon Tea: Delicious! The greenery is very well maintained! I was lucky enough to see the cactus blooming! The night view from the terrace is stunning, overlooking the ancient town!

I had to change to this hotel at the last minute, and although it was a bit rushed, it was definitely the right choice! This is a perfect example of a successful renovation of an old building. It's located right at the head of the scenic area, which is incredibly convenient. The owner is enthusiastic, patient, and very kind, and the young man who helped us out was also great. However, compared to them, the female staff seemed a bit lackadaisical in their service. I have to commend their renovated bathrooms and showers. This is often a pain point for many guesthouses, but they've absolutely nailed it here. It was very comfortable. Even the open-air balcony was enjoyable when it rained, and the outlets on the balcony were well-placed. Opening the window offers a direct view of the scenic area's most iconic spots! The rooftop balcony is absolutely perfect for photos. On one side, you can see the distinctive horse-head walls of the ancient town, and on the other, the pier, Wuyang River, Yuanbao Mountain, the pagoda, and Kong Bridge. Looking down, you feel like you're overlooking a thousand-year-old ancient town – the location is fantastic! The ancient town itself is wonderful to explore. While it may not be as delicate and graceful as the ancient towns of Jiangnan, it's grander and more dignified. There are all sorts of local shops, unique clothing, and accessories, and the prices are much more reasonable than many other ancient towns. Plus, there's great food! I recommend staying at least two nights. Because I'd love to come back, I also have two small suggestions: 1. There's no large full-length mirror. 2. The breakfast isn't great; at the very least, the freshly made rice noodles should be authentic and flavorful. Everything else was absolutely perfect!

Every time I come to Zhenyuan, I stay at this place. The view is great, the details are excellent, and the owner is also fantastic.

The service was exceptional, I felt right at home! It truly had a homely feel; the butler was already waiting for us at the parking lot when we arrived, helped with our luggage, and even gave us a welcome gift.

Zhenyuan is an ancient town I'd visit again and again, and this hotel is definitely one of the reasons why. It truly stands out among guesthouses for its service, amenities, and location. From the parking guidance to luggage assistance and thoughtful introductions to the scenic area, every detail shows their meticulous care. Zhenyuan isn't large, but it has many guesthouses, so it's clear they've put in a lot of effort to rise above the rest. Highly recommended!

The B&B's rooftop terrace offers the absolute best spot, a perfect C-position, to watch the city's drone light show take off and land! We were lucky enough to catch a large-scale drone performance organized by the government. No need to fight the crowds by the river; we had an unobstructed panoramic view of the entire aerial light and shadow spectacle from the Shanheshi viewing platform. The sky full of drones transformed in countless ways, and the view was expansive and peaceful. The terrace directly faces the Wuyang River and the entire ancient town, providing an unobstructed view of the stunning landscapes. The afternoon tea was exquisite and elegant, and we even stumbled upon a singer performing live. Enjoying the mountain scenery and the show with a gentle evening breeze truly maximized our travel experience. The restaurant's floor-to-ceiling windows face the ancient town's grey-tiled old houses, offering a picturesque view of Zhenyuan's mountains and rivers. The environment is clean and elegant, the service is thoughtful and attentive, and the viewing spot is truly one-of-a-kind. Staying here in Zhenyuan was absolutely worth it, highly recommended!

We were on a self-driving trip, and the owner set up a concierge group beforehand, which was very thoughtful. He also arranged for someone to help us with our luggage from the parking lot in advance. Thumbs up! 3. The hotel's facilities are all quite new. 4. I suggest the owner get an ice machine. There's fresh ground coffee at breakfast, but I'd also like some ice. I rarely write reviews, but the owner was very helpful in sorting out the details for financial invoicing. It's worth visiting again.
