Redmont Hotel Birmingham, Curio a Collection by Hilton

I will NEVER return here! If you are wise, this is a “no-go!” old hotel; bathtub water drip (full stream),housekeeping marked room ready, &it was as far from it, this occurred 3 of my 4 days there. Did not empty trash, bring clean towels, or TOILET TISSUE. No Frig.No microwave. One sink bathroom. No plugs for my electronic devices. No place to hang towels or lay anything in the bathroom. The window seal became the towel rack and makeup hygiene station. The TV did not work. Found out the light switch by the door controlled it, and the light that puts a glare in your face all the time. The bed was less than 2 ft from the door; it did not feel calming.There was a coffee station on the desk, so there was no workspace, and one chair in a double room. No light near the mirror, which made it nearly useless. The Restaurant &I use that term loosely. They did not have most of the food listed on the menu. Food horrible. Food was served cold, and it took a long time to get it, every order, every time! Cold, grainy coffee,repeatedly. The last straw, my breakfast was served with an end piece of bread; hard as a brick &cold. No straw for my Coke! Who runs out of straws? I should have left the first day. I kept thinking things would get better, but they did not! Valet guys were wonderful. Night housekeeper Connie was supper with a good attitude as she took the heat for the day-crew's mess-ups. It's misery cost me over $1254.81 PLUS an additional $200 to park; hotel has Valet parking only!

Broken elevator made for a stressful weekend! We were compensated on our room rate, but unfortunately it didn't make the painful service elevator wait any shorter. Also, the rooftop bar was closed due to the elevator and that was the main reason we booked this hotel.

Staff were amazing! However, the elevators were not working our entire stay. Also, there was no trash can in the bathroom along with a burnt out light bulb and leaky toilet. Housekeeping did not show up so we were out of coffee pods and bottled water. With all that said I would give them another try solely on how friendly the hotel staff was!

The elevator was out of service our entire stay. Wednesday to Sunday. Using the service elevator or taking the stairs. Not ideal. Our room was missing a trash can, toilet paper, ice bucket. We were given an ice bucket from the banquet center and then the ice machine didn’t work. We didn’t get service to our room for 2 days. When we finally did, it was half assed. The toilet and floor weren’t cleaned, they took the hand soap then didn’t replace with another one. Certain employees were great though. Valet attendant was helpful and nice, one cleaning lady tried to help us and the food service manager was the one to get us fresh towels after we didn’t get service for 2 days.

Both elevators were down with everyone and staff having to use staff elevator. Property wasn’t very clean and did not look to be well maintained.

I’ll start with what was good: the location is great for what we needed and the valet staff was super nice and helpful. It pretty much ends there. The elevator is broken (apparently this has been going on for over a week) so hotel guests, people using the roof top bar and staff all use the service elevator. We opted for the stairs and found the stair well to be filthy. The room was small (expected in an old hotel). The bed was an old spring mattress that had its last good night about a decade ago. The pillows were like sleeping on crumpled tissue paper. We didn’t have any body wash. I mentioned it to the front desk when we left for the day. Someone came and straightened (“made” would be a stretch) our bed but didn’t refill the body wash, freshen our in room coffee supplies, leave a new bag for ice or do anything else. I popped into the lobby at 5am for more coffee. The person working the front desk was scrolling his phone when I got down there. He was helpful. The lobby was trashed. There were beer cans, Taco Bell bags- basically a frat party- all over the lobby. The crowd I’m assuming consumed these things stumbled to their rooms at 3 (every sleeping adult heard them). There is no reason it was still trashed 2 hours later. All in all, this might be the worst hotel I’ve stayed in in a very very long time.

The room was disgusting. The elevator didn’t work. There was no hot water. Would not stay here again.

Hotel doesnt have parking. Website says it does. Well, it doesnt. No valet parking weekends. Elevator was so loud it was hard to sleep at night.

The room was clean and well kept, no complaints there. The biggest issues are the lobby being very weirdly designed, the rooftop bar being very strangely laid out to the point it's not easy to have 3 people talk to each other, and the elevators being unnerving. Apparently one elevator has been out of service for like 8 months with no status to the staff that it'll be back online and the other guest elevator doesn't reach the top floor where the bar is so it's a very very weird walk up the emergency stairwell to get to the bar. The breakfast was good and the staff were nice but I think the owners of this place need to take a hard look at what they are offering. This IMO is not up to Hilton standards.
