🏨 Disappointment in the very heart of Malacca The hotel is indeed right in the city center – and perhaps that's where the positives end. - 🕒 Check-in: We waited at the reception for about 30 minutes upon arrival – simply no one was there. No one answered the phone or WhatsApp. A very strange and unpleasant start. The front desk operates until 6 PM. We had informed them in advance that we would be arriving between 4-5 PM. - 🧹 Cleanliness: The room was not cleaned at all after the previous guests. This was evident everywhere: the floor wasn't even swept, let alone mopped. In the bathroom, there was hair, dirt, and a forgotten toothbrush with toothpaste. It felt like the room hadn't been checked at all before our check-in. - 💬 Service: The next day, a hotel employee approached us and unexpectedly demanded an additional payment, even though everything had been paid for via Trip.com. We had to explain and show our booking confirmation – it seemed quite unprofessional. - 🦟 Mosquitoes: Before the trip, I read reviews about mosquitoes and thought they were exaggerating. But no – there really are a lot of them, and they severely disrupt sleep at night. - 🏙️ Surroundings: Although the hotel is in the center, this isn't always a plus. Food prices are inflated, and on weekdays, the center looks almost dead – everything only comes alive on weekends. Perhaps it's better to stay a bit further out and simply take a taxi to the center. 📌 Conclusion: Being in the center doesn't always mean convenience. The hotel left an unpleasant impression: dirty, disorganized, with mosquitoes and booking misunderstandings. I do not recommend it.

The biggest win for this hotel is definitely its location on Jalan Tukang Besi — super close to Jonker Walk and all the tourist hotspots around the area. Location-wise, it’s really great. The only thing is the hotel can be a bit confusing to find because there’s no signage for “Melaka Oracle Bookstore.” On the map and on the building facade, there’s only Chinese writing, so it took me a moment to be sure I was at the right place. I’m also not sure if the owner is Malaysian because they spoke Mandarin, but they can communicate in English, and both the owner and staff were friendly. Along this lane, you’ll also find a few shops that rent Nyonya kebaya and batik shirts, and Masjid Kampung Kling is just a few meters away. To get to the rooms upstairs, you’ll need an access card, and the room door uses a physical key. The room itself is fairly clean, with a comfortable mattress and pillows. The aircond is cold, there’s a wall fan, a water heater, and free WiFi. There were no drinking glasses in the room, but you can refill water from the filtered water machine outside. They also have a pantry area and a washing machine, though I didn’t see an iron board — probably need to ask the staff. Mosquito coils were provided, but thankfully, there were no mosquitoes in my room. However, there are a few things that could be improved. There was no blanket provided, which should be basic. I also noticed some plaster bagworms on the ceiling and walls — these should be cleaned because they can bite and leave marks. The toilet paper roll should be new, not a leftover one. The water pressure is quite low, so showering didn’t feel very satisfying. And the leftover mosquito coil ash should be cleaned before a new guest checks in. The toilet could also be cleaned more thoroughly — no stray hairs on the floor and no stains on the bowl. Overall, the hotel is decent and perfectly okay for a stay. The facilities match the affordable price, and if you’re not as fussy as I am, you’ll probably be fine. There’s also a cute cat mural outside the building. The place has a rustic but charming vibe — definitely has room to improve, but still a pleasant stay.

Location is great as it is next to Joners Street. However, the seems like a half-hearted attempted to build a home stay. The amenities are really basic and anything who wants to here must be prepared for all the shortfalls. I will highlight just a few. The owner has kindly make available mosquito incense but you need to have your own matches or lighter which we don't have. The water flow from the shower and to the toilet sink is quite poor. It was very low on a couple of days and badly affected our conveniences. Lastly, the wall and ceiling are not well insulated. When there are people staying on the upper floor, every foot steps can be heard very loudly so much as that my partner, who is very tolerant of such things, even suggested to go up and ask the occupants to tread lightly. The place has a lot of potential. But for now it is definitely not one that I would return to stay.

The room was quite spacious and the location was excellent. However, the water pressure was extremely low, making it very difficult to shower or wash my hair.

The room has cobweb in the room as well as in the toilet. The blankets have weird smell as if they were washed but not dried properly. The sound from the neighbouring rooms could be heard clearly.

Room is pretty decent. Location is very convenient. Walk down and can access several famous attractions. However, parking is limited, need to park up to 5 to 6 minutes away from accommodation. Air cond functions well. No mosquitoes as commented by others.  General items such as blanket and hair dryer have to ask from shopkeeper only he will provide.  Cleanliness needs to improve - the floor is quite dusty first day we arrived.  Toilet bowl water and shower head water is too weak, need to improve pump.
