The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong

To celebrate our wedding anniversary, we stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong, and the overall experience far exceeded our expectations. It truly deserves a five-star rating. The hotel's location and views are impeccable. Our room faced the Bund and the Huangpu River, offering an incredibly expansive view. Whether it was the morning sunshine or the dazzling night lights of Lujiazui, we could take it all in through the panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows. The depth and breadth of the scenery were truly impressive. Secondly, a special thank you must go to Ms. Angela. Upon learning it was our wedding anniversary, she thoughtfully decorated our room. The attention to detail truly showcased the care and warmth of a luxury hotel, making our stay full of surprises and touching moments. From the room's hardware facilities to the welcoming service provided by all the 'Ladies and Gentlemen,' everything perfectly embodied the essence of the Ritz-Carlton. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai for a vacation or to celebrate a special occasion!

Everything about this hotel is disproportionate to its price: 1. Despite other rooms being available, I was not offered a complimentary upgrade and was instead dismissively assigned a low-floor room with a poor view. 2. The welcome fruit consisted of one banana and one kiwi (without a knife), and a few plums – it was so underwhelming that it would have been better not to receive anything at all. There were also none of the usual welcome amenities that other hotels provide. 3. The worst part was the breakfast, which cost 200 per person: cold pan-fried dumplings, fishy-smelling meat and shrimp, and a pitifully small variety of dishes. Is this really worth 400? It's worse than the breakfast quality at 800-yuan hotels. When I tried to sit by the window, I was told it was reserved. Do even breakfast seats have a hierarchy? Is seating determined by room type rather than arrival order? 4. The service was neither warm nor attentive, showing no consideration for guests and seemingly only focused on making money. Other than the location, there's nothing commendable about this place. Even laundry services are charged for every single item, and the decor is utterly outdated, lagging 20 years behind. 5. Overall, the value for money is extremely low, and the experience was terrible. Most hotels in Shanghai costing around 1,000 yuan are better in every aspect. I came for the Oriental Pearl Tower view, but I will never stay here again. 6. This is a completely objective negative review.

The hotel is showing its age, but it's well-maintained. The breakfast staff... *sigh*. And finding hair on the towels in the room was really quite unacceptable.

The room decor is grand and shows no signs of age. The breakfast restaurant and lounge areas are not large, but the food is quite refined. The Bund view is beautiful, and the transportation is very convenient, with IFC Mall right downstairs, making shopping easy.

Rosy, who assisted us throughout our stay, was incredibly attentive and professional, never intrusive. The hotel itself was simply superb – stunning views, excellent facilities, very clean, and incredibly convenient for getting around. It's right next to a large shopping mall, making shopping a breeze.

The hotel's location offers an excellent view, directly facing the Oriental Pearl Tower. The staff were very welcoming, greeting us proactively, and even offered complimentary afternoon tea. Upon learning it was for my elder's birthday, they decorated the room and provided a birthday cake and roses. Definitely worth another stay.

We celebrated my child's birthday at the Ritz, and the hotel was incredibly thoughtful in decorating the room. A special thanks to Rosy for her full-service assistance and to Scarlett for the carefully prepared gift and handwritten card. Also, the handsome guys and beautiful ladies at Flair were all very nice. I apologize for not remembering the name of the lovely lady who checked us in, but her recommendations for hotel benefits really saved us some money. The river view room was decent, and watching the lights of Pudong Development Bank from it was worth the price. Although it shows some signs of age, 'The Lion King' (referring to the Ritz) is still a worthy visit among the luxury brands in the city.

The staff provide excellent customer service. The room and bathroom are generously sized, and the view of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower at night alone makes it worth staying here.

The service at this hotel was exceptionally good. The kind and lovely Ms. Lily not only gave us mooncakes but also a check-out gift. Her service was thoughtful and meticulous, and she was so gentle! The kindest lady in the world! 🤓😙😚
