Shangri-La Chiang Mai

This is considered one of the better hotels in Chiang Mai. The architecture is very Thai, and while the facilities are a bit dated, it doesn't really affect the overall experience. The breakfast was quite varied, but a little less impressive than I'd hoped. It's quite humid here; the duvet and clothes left out still felt damp even after being out all day.

Great location. The hotel is clean and spacious. The bed is soft and comfortable. The staff are polite and friendly.

Stayed for two days and noticed that the lock on one of the doors was consistently broken; it could be opened without a key card. The power went out twice in one day, and the bathroom door got locked once. The door lock clearly looked like it had been repaired many times. Breakfast was also subpar. Compared to hotels in China, the facilities and service here are significantly worse. For a hotel ranked as the number one family-friendly option, everyone should manage their expectations; it's just a slightly larger swimming pool. They can't even properly arrange towels; whether you get one or not is pure luck. If I hadn't booked two rooms, I wouldn't have realized this lamp was missing its cover.

Although it's an older five-star hotel, the facilities have been renovated, offering great value for money. It's very friendly towards Chinese guests, with Chinese-speaking staff at the front desk. The pool looked amazing, but unfortunately, I didn't have time to enjoy it. I'd love to come back again next time.

The room seemed quite old, I stayed for five days, but I really loved the spa. It's a shame I only tried it on the last day; I should have gone every day. I made sure to enjoy breakfast, and the staff were very friendly, remembering my preferences for tea and drinks. The welcome fruit and flowers were a thoughtful touch.

I rarely give hotels such a low rating. I booked this stay because of the brand and the hotel's garden view. However, upon arrival, I found it to be the worst Shangri-La I've ever stayed at. The room was old and had a strange smell, the facilities were outdated and inconvenient, and the breakfast selection was limited and not fresh. I wanted to check out after one night, but the hotel required 24-hour notice, so I begrudgingly stayed another night and immediately switched hotels. The only positive was Ted's service at the executive lounge. Do NOT book this Shangri-La! Do NOT book this Shangri-La! Do NOT book this Shangri-La!
