Shangri-La Guilin

I explored the Shangri-La Guilin, and this hotel is quite expansive. Its exterior features Tang Dynasty architectural elements, and the large panoramic windows offer views of the mountains, water, and city on both sides of the Li River. With an outdoor pool and landscaped gardens, this is truly a hidden gem of an urban resort, offering a different feel from a typical city business hotel. The hotel's signature scent and the standard Shangri-La lobby elements are instantly recognizable. Given that Guilin is a relatively ordinary third or fourth-tier city, having such a hotel completely changed my perception of both Guilin and the Shangri-La brand. It also showed me that this hotel brand truly understands Chinese people and traditional Chinese culture. During my holiday back to my hometown of Chenzhou, I took the opportunity to visit nearby Guilin. It was actually my first time exploring Guilin, and apart from the scenic views along the way, the best part of my trip was surprisingly the hotel. While the Shangri-La didn't exceed my expectations with an unexpected wow factor, the consistent quality of this hotel brand is truly impressive. The breakfast highlight was undoubtedly the Chinese section, which incorporated local culinary elements. The staff's demeanor, greetings, seating, and even the head chef personally delivering freshly baked croissants, all demonstrated a well-oiled system of service. Shangri-La has always been our top choice for travel! It's true that in some cities, like Guangxi, the facilities might be a bit older since it's an established hotel chain. However, I was generally happy with this stay at Shangri-La! From the moment we arrived and were about to check in, the service was impeccable – from the doorman to the front desk staff, the lobby manager, and even getting complimentary bottled water, everyone was attentive. But then, as we were about to check out, a housekeeper didn't even bother to knock and just opened the door and walked straight into the room! I have to wonder, is there no training? Did all the hard work of the other staff just go to waste because of that one incident?

The room arranged by duty manager Tommy was excellent, and Niki provided very warm service. It was a great stay. The Horizon Club service was very detailed, and the suite even had turndown service, which I haven't experienced in a long time, truly reflecting a five-star hotel experience. The swimming pool facilities were well-equipped and very comfortable.

This is a high-end hotel in Guilin city center, and staying during the off-season offered incredible value for money. The hotel upgraded me to a Garden King Room, which provided a clear view of the Li River. It's conveniently located for getting around, and the breakfast is plentiful. Definitely worth staying here.

Our family of three had a fantastic stay here! The hotel grounds are huge, and our child absolutely loved the peacocks roaming around – we'd often spot them, which made the trip really fun. The room was spacious, and the service was thoughtful and attentive. The front desk even provided children's amenities. The facilities are comprehensive, with a kids' play area, a swimming pool, and even a sightseeing train. The back gate leads directly to the Li River. Breakfast offered a wide variety, and the Guilin rice noodles were delicious. Some facilities are a bit dated, but it didn't detract from our vacation. We didn't even need to leave the hotel to keep our child entertained. Our child still talks about the peacocks, so I highly recommend this for families with kids.

The hotel exceeded my expectations. It was excellent, and staying in a room with a mountain view was truly delightful. The staff were also very service-minded.

I personally feel this is the best hotel in Guilin. Although it's an older property, it's very well-maintained. The rooms are fully equipped, clean, and tidy. The hotel's location is also excellent, making it convenient to visit all the attractions, and you can even walk directly to the Li River from the back gate. The breakfast offers a wide variety, with authentic oil tea and rice noodles, and the freshly baked egg tarts are also delicious. I'll definitely bring my family to stay here again in the future.

Traveling with kids, the service was excellent – warm, polite, and they readily provided a bed rail and children's toothbrush when requested at the front desk. The hotel offers a beautiful view, and there's a back exit that leads directly to the Li River. The biggest surprise was finding a path right by the river where we could go down and play in the water. It was very shallow and clear, perfect for kids, and we even saw some people bringing their dogs to play! The hotel also has a mini train and peacocks, which the children absolutely loved. They said they want to come back here again next time!

The hotel has an old-money vibe, the breakfast is good, and there's an outdoor pool. Overall, the stay was excellent.
