Nestled amidst a picturesque landscape, this historic 17th century castle boasts a surrounding moat steeped in history, where you can escape and relax. We were astounded when we spotted an otter swimming gracefully in the moat. An extraordinary, magical, and rare experience. The hotel offers complimentary car parking and free WiFi. We stayed in the junior suite in the castle. The room was spacious, with a comfortable bed and a breathtaking view of the park. The room was elegantly enhanced with the exquisite handmade chocolates, which added a delightful touch.

Not a lot that is wrong here. Beautiful location, good staff, large rooms with all amenities, great bed, good wifi. Large parking, no charging for electric cars on site. Great breakfast, partially made to order. Two restaurants on site, a bistro and a fine dining restaurant. Bistro was good, not exceptional, but maybe this was because we had a set menu. Fine dining, much better, but ridiculously expensive wines, as well as all other drinks at the bar. I still give it 5 stars but selling a bottle of $20 euro for nearly $100 is not ok.

A not so classy Castle. Sort out your breakfast. A beautiful castle just off the road to Hamburg. Service wise, almost great. Only real let down was the exceedingly expensive breakfast that was really not worth the €30 that for 3 people almost felt like extortion. Some cold fish, a few cheeses and some tired looking charcuteries. Pancakes were fine as was the scrambled egg and bacon. But an extra €12.50 for Eggs Benedict, come on, that really is taking the biscuit! Also, had never heard of Rooibos tea, wich really was surprising for a place that clearly try to pass themselves off as top end. The blonde breakfast hostess was not great at speaking and understanding English, and the Basil Fawlty fake smile did not make up for that. Room was comfy, nice greeting card upon arrival and also macaroons and chocolate. But again, breakfast left an aftertaste, both price wise and for its lack of choice and flavour.

Excellent stay. Beautiful location.
