Where to begin. We had reserved a room for a week's stay this fall. Upon arrival we noticed that the room was more run down than what the picture leads one to believe. Stairs to the second floor are not safe, stable or level. Linens were threadbare, flimsy and worn. Two of the four outlets in the room were behind furniture and so therefore inaccessible, the third was above the bathroom mirror on the light fixture and the fourth was in the kitchen. None of these seemed to be located in a place where the television could have been plugged in unless one were to plug one power ***** into a second power ***** or rearrange furniture. The room also smelled like gas. Our first thought was to just make due but as each issue popped up, we begun to have our doubts. The last straw was the very uncomfortable beds and as my husband is a disabled combat vet, this was not something we could over look. We finally called the owner, Clay, to discuss. We were told to move the refrigerator and the bed to access outlets. We were told that the gas smell was probably because the pilot light was not lit. We were also told that we should have known what we were getting as pictures were posted. Pictures do not show the items that I listed above. We offered to pay for that night but informed him that we could not stay in this room for the remainder of our trip. This conversation was not exactly cordial but in the end it was decided that if we left immediately that Clay would refund the entirety of our payment. We left the room as we found it. Fast forward a week and we had heard nothing. We checked in with Clay who reported that he was working on the refund. As we had paid with a credit card, this should have been an easy process but we gave him the benefit of the doubt. A few days later we got a text from Clay stating "I have changed my mind, I am disputing your claim. Good luck winning this one." We did file a dispute with our credit card and of course won, as we submitted a screen shot of the message stating that he was going to refund the money and then the one stating he had changed his mind. If you are looking for "rustic" (think how realtors use the word rustic, aka shabby and worn) no frills room, this may be for you. Several reviews on here that were content with that. Beware though, if you have any issues, the owner is difficult to work with and very unprofessional. He also has a tendency to attack and blame those who leave negative reviews which really speaks to his level of maturity.
