Locke at East Side Gallery

I stayed for 21 nights. Compared to Locke in Munich, this place was much smaller, but it was well soundproofed and the space was comfortable. They clean once every 7 days, so I had it cleaned 3 times. However, they only changed the bed sheets and towels, never vacuumed the floor or cleaned the bathroom. There was so much dust rolling around that I complained, and they came back to vacuum. In the second week, the drain was clogged with hair, so the water wouldn't go down, which confirmed they weren't cleaning the bathroom. If you're staying for a short period, it might not be a big issue, but as a long-term guest, the frying pans were so scratched that they were unusable. I asked for replacements several times and only managed to get one that was slightly less damaged. The same goes for kitchen linens; I had to ask multiple times for anything, and even then, I was never fully satisfied. The kitchen is also really small. And there's just a lot of white dust everywhere, and I couldn't figure out why. The location is good for walking around East Side Gallery, but the station is a 15-minute walk, buses come almost every 30 minutes, and the supermarket is a 20-minute walk away, so keep that in mind. The bus route is good as it goes through the city center, but on the way back to the accommodation, it was always packed with people visiting the gallery. I was assigned a city view room, and from dawn till dusk, I made eye contact with people looking at the wall. You can't open the curtains enough to have a conversation, so I'd recommend getting a river view if possible. When the window was open, bugs would always come in. The small park right in front looked romantic and seemed safe because there were so many people, but there were also many homeless people and drunk individuals. As someone traveling with a child, I was hesitant to even have a picnic, let alone go out to see the moon after sunset. But I guess that's just the general atmosphere of Berlin. Laundry is done via an app, which you top up with a card, and it costs 4 euros per wash.

A terrible experience. I booked a 'City Studio' and the room description clearly stated 'one 1.51m large bed.' However, the room I received had two small beds pushed together! It was impossible to sleep comfortably. When I asked the front desk, they said that it's random whether you get a large bed or two pushed together. But the platform didn't mention 'random' at all, it explicitly said 'large bed.' Isn't this blatant false advertising? All the photos in the review section also show single large beds... Don't be fooled. I requested a room change, but the front desk said they were fully, fully booked for the day and couldn't switch me. I don't understand, I checked in at 4 PM. As long as not all guests have checked in, they should be able to change rooms, right? What does 'fully booked' have to do with it? So annoying. The room supposedly had a 'small kitchen-like area,' but there were no pots, pans, or even a kettle – it was ridiculous.

It's a bit of a walk to the station, but not too far. The facilities are clean and the room is spacious, which I really liked. I recommend it.

I only realized when I arrived that it's right next to the 'Fraternal Kiss' mural. I went to see the painting around 8:00 AM and there was hardly anyone there taking photos 👍 The room has a lake view, and you can see cruise ships passing by on the water. It was really relaxing to just sit on the balcony and zone out. The facilities are quite clean, and overall, I highly recommend it!

Great location! Right downstairs, there's a graffiti wall which is a cool attraction, and the riverside views are really relaxing. There's no breakfast provided, but the pastries and coffee at the cafe downstairs in the morning are pretty good and worth trying.

The hotel's location is perfect for tourism. I celebrated New Year's Eve there. Important to note: there's no parking at the hotel, and you can't smoke in the room or on the balcony. Pros: clean, cozy, and affordable.
