Shilla Stay Seocho

The hotel lobby is spacious and features a work desk area. The double room has enough space to open two large suitcases, but doing so blocks the small table (you'd have to use it while sitting on the bed). The bathroom is quite spacious and clean. Breakfast is good and relatively diverse for Seoul. There is a convenience store downstairs, and Olive Young is a 10-minute walk away.

As soon as I opened the door to the hotel room, I was hit by a strong body odor characteristic of a Southeast Asian man. It was obvious the previous guest had just checked out and the cleaning staff had failed to clean the room properly, leaving that smell behind. When I lifted the toilet seat, a strong smell of urine hit me, and there were urine stains around the rim (I’ve seen the exact same complaint for other Shilla Stay hotels in Seoul). Absolutely disgusting! I demanded a room change immediately! However, the new room wasn't much cleaner. The bedding and duvets felt unclean, and every day I would get itchy all over after sleeping under them. I finally felt better after moving to a different hotel. The hygiene issues here are appalling. As for the location, how should I put it? It's in a residential area that is neither upscale nor downscale, but the soundproofing is terrible. You could constantly hear sports cars zooming by at night, and every time the next-door room opened or closed their door, the vibration and noise were crystal clear in my room. It's not close to any of Seoul's attractions; taking a taxi takes 20 to 30 minutes everywhere. I was also baffled that it took a whole two hours to get to this hotel from Incheon Airport that day. On a sunny day, the sunlight streaming across the entrance on the first floor is quite nice, but the hygiene is atrocious and the management is poor. It feels like the cleaning staff at Shilla Stay just rush through their jobs carelessly—it's just terrible. If they could improve the cleanliness and management, the experience wouldn't be this bad. I will never stay here again because the hygiene conditions are just too awful. The showerhead was abrasive and hurt to use, the water pressure was painfully weak, and taking a shower was miserable. The slippers and toilet paper were as thin as silk. The only redeeming quality was that the pillow was great for people with cervical spine issues. Some of the staff were friendly, while others showed discrimination against Chinese guests. If you don't make requests or speak up, they assign the worst rooms to Chinese guests. In just a short stay, I had to change rooms three times. I saw other reviews saying the 24-hour Seolleongtang (ox bone soup) restaurant across the street was good, so I went to try it, but it wasn't a hidden gem at all. It felt like the kind of place frequented by elderly people on a tight budget—the sort of place you only go to when you can't find anything good in Seoul and just need something to comfort your stomach. It wasn't particularly delicious, just okay for warming yourself up with some soup.

On a business trip, the hotels in this area aren't great, and the prices are very high on weekends. This one was acceptable, but the room wasn't very spacious either. Note that check-in time here is 3 PM; some places around here only allow check-in at 8 PM, and you have to pay extra for early check-in, which is really strange in Korea.

I'm giving this hotel a resounding commendation! It feels very much like a business hotel catering to Koreans, with an overall quiet and upscale ambiance. Although the area isn't as lively as Myeongdong, there are still plenty of great food options, and having a convenience store right across the street is super handy. I really have to praise the service – it was absolutely exceptional. Everyone was fantastic. When we arrived at 1 PM, the front desk staff saw we had a lot of luggage and immediately allowed us to check in early. All four front desk staff members I encountered were incredibly patient, responsible, friendly, and polite. When it was raining and difficult to hail a taxi, I asked them for help, and they genuinely tried to understand where we wanted to go, using maps to pinpoint the location. One time, at 3 AM, our food delivery was taken by someone else. I was bracing myself for them to shirk responsibility, but even at that hour, they apologized profusely, checked CCTV, and communicated with us. Within half an hour, they identified which room had mistakenly taken our order, and directly escorted me to retrieve our food and related expenses. Oh my goodness, I was completely touched TT. The iron and ironing board in the room were incredibly convenient. And the water delivery was done by a robot (you have no idea how surprised and impressed I was to see a robot in Korea – it's so convenient!). The toiletries were a full set of genuine L'Occitane Verbena, which smelled lovely. There are also three convenience stores across the street, and the area is a commercial district, so ordering takeout or dining out is no problem. There's a popular Ganjang Gejang (soy-marinated crab) restaurant nearby that's delicious. The hotel doesn't require a deposit, and the people are genuinely wonderful! It takes about half an hour by taxi to get to Hannam-dong, and there's also a shopping mall opposite. The surrounding area truly feels like an affluent neighborhood. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone with plans in that area. I would definitely stay here again!!! Highly recommended, my impression is truly excellent.

This place is conveniently located near the city center, and the price isn't as expensive as hotels in Gangnam. It's really good! Plus, there's a delicious 24-hour beef soup place right across the street, and the coffee shop downstairs is excellent too.

Not bad. The location is good, with plenty of food options nearby, which is very convenient. It's not far from Gangnam Station, and there's a CU, McDonald's, and Olive Young right next door.

The hotel's location is great, and it's very comfortable to stay in. There's an Olive Young just around the corner, and plenty of restaurants nearby. However, you'll need to take a taxi to Shilla Duty Free Shop as it's quite a distance away.
