Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre Hotel & Residences

After staying at the Impiana Hotel regularly for many years, we finally decided to try a new hotel: the Pullman KLCC. Naturally, it’s more modern and (so far) better maintained—something frequent travelers to Malaysia know all too well: good, modern hotels often end up completely run down after a few years of mismanagement. The rooms at the Pullman are modern and clean. The view is rather mediocre, blocked by surrounding skyscrapers. The Club-level rooms are relatively small, but sufficient. However, they probably shouldn't be much smaller in the standard categories. Access to the Club Lounge is only worth it to a limited extent; the selection of food and (alcoholic) drinks is rather restricted—partly due to the number of demanding guests. Some guests even line up four glasses of wine on their table, anticipating a shortage later on. That’s not exactly what you’d call considerate. The spa and swimming pool are small, but nice. The general breakfast buffet on the ground floor is very extensive, but also very crowded, especially from 9:00 AM onwards. If you prefer a slightly less hectic atmosphere, keep an eye on the “breakfast congestion meter” at check-in. The friendliness and helpfulness of the hotel staff deserve a special mention; hopefully it stays that way—good staff are worth their weight in gold! The hotel’s location is quite good. Via the Banyan Tree Hotel, which is just a stone's throw away, you can take a short pedestrian bridge on the second floor straight to Pavilion Mall and do some shopping without getting your feet wet (even during the usual heavy downpours).
