Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp

Gorilla Forest Lodge was without a doubt the absolute highlight of our trip to Uganda. From the moment we arrived, we knew this place was something truly extraordinary. The location is simply unbeatable. Nestled deep within Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the lodge is only a five-minute walk from the starting point of the gorilla trekking experience. Being surrounded by ancient rainforest made us feel completely immersed in nature from the very first moment. The lodge itself is stunning. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed using natural materials that blend seamlessly into the surrounding forest. It offers true luxury without ever feeling excessive or out of place. Instead, it feels authentic, peaceful, and perfectly connected to its environment. What made our stay even more special was the incredible team. Every member of staff was genuinely warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. We would especially like to thank Adam, who looked after us so wonderfully. When one of our backpacks broke, he arranged for it to be taken to the local village, where it was beautifully repaired by a women's community. This thoughtful gesture perfectly reflects the exceptional level of care and hospitality we experienced throughout our stay. Another absolute highlight was the spa. We highly recommend every guest to book a treatment. The quality of the massages and overall spa experience was outstanding—honestly among the best we have ever experienced, even compared to some of Europe's finest luxury hotels. We also loved spending our evenings around the campfire. It became a place to reflect on the incredible experiences of the day, share stories with other guests, and simply enjoy the magical atmosphere of the forest. The food was exceptional throughout our stay, with every meal beautifully prepared and full of flavor. We genuinely enjoyed every single minute we spent at Gorilla Forest Lodge. We will most certainly be back one day and cannot recommend this lodge highly enough. If you're planning a gorilla trekking adventure in Uganda, this is the place to stay. 100% recommended!

The most amazing experience from beginning to end. All the staff were very attentive and friendly. Our housekeepers Adam and Andrew were amazing and even cleaned our boots after the gorilla trek to an excellent standard. Elli our waiter was warm, friendly and very hospitable. I spend my 50th birthday here with my sons and niece. Moses our driver was very knowledgeable and despite the long distances travelled he was always friendly and helpful. Overall an experience I will never forget, seeing the gorillas was a highlight however all the staff at the hotel made the experience unforgettable. Highly recommended.

I had a most memorable Easter break at Gorilla Forest Lodge. My entire experience right from the Kihihi airstrip pick up to the return drop off, made me feel like a one-of-one guest. The lodge is just like in the pictures if not better. My cottage was a little out-of-view, and seating on the deck on wet afternoons, surrounded by nature with Bwindi Forest in view, I felt like I was in my own little bubble. Everyone who looked after me during my 3 nights stay was attentive, kind and genuinely intentional about curating a memorable experience for me. Simon took care of me in the dining room from the afternoon I arrived, and Elli joined him in service on the second day after the Gorilla trek. They both ensured I enjoyed my meals, as I quietly soaked in the beauty and serenity that surrounded me. Rogers my guide, was fatherly and very thoughtful. On the 3rd day, as we left for the nature hike to the waterfall, he wondered aloud whether I was having a good time, more so because I was on a solo trip. He quietly engineered my unforgettable experience of both the Gorilla trek and the hike, the following day. He was conscientious about the little things that made all the difference. A 10/10 experience, that left me rested, grateful and reminded of the magic of a little kindness and thoughtfulness.

Amazing location with great views of the forest with rooms in amazing locations within the grounds . The staff were very friendly and attentive though the manager was quite sharp to start with , he mellowed though 😀 food was lovely in a very beautiful restaurant, our waitress sorry I don’t have her name who took the orders both nights was brilliant and Simon with his Pina Colados was such a gentleman. A beautiful room well presented and loved Fred who walked us home each night . House keeper 10/10 the laundry service speed incredible . I loved everything about the place, The lodge is very well organized, with beautifully maintained premises and a breathtaking view from the restaurant and the cottages. The food was excellent, with a good variety at breakfast and very tasty dishes overall.excellent service. Everything was well arranged, and the atmosphere made my stay truly memorable.

We stayed for 3 nights to do gorilla trekking. We had asked for the most quiet location and were given Villa #5, which was great because it had a private path to it and was all by itself. The Villa had all we needed for a comfortable stay and came with free entertainment in the afternoons from the resident monkeys while we enjoyed the porch swings. We did not book through A & K yet did not feel we were treated any differently than guests who did. We were happily surprised to receive personalized water bottles for the trek. They also loaned us gators and walking sticks. They took great care of our driver including feeding him in the same area where the guests eat. This was a nice touch. The drivers work hard and deserve to be treated well. This was our first experience in an A & K property and will likely look for others for future trips around the globe.

Gorilla Forest Lodge is an awesome property to stay. They offer a combo of luxury, great cuisine including tasty vegetarian dishes and fantastic Gorilla trekking experience. The highlight of our 3 day stay was the surprise visit of a gorilla around the property!!! This gave us ample time to watch and observe the gorilla in very close proximity. The Manager, barman, chef and every staff member were ever ready for service with a smile!!

When we checked into the Gorilla Forest Lodge we thought it was the wrong property. A major renovation has changed the look - in a big and beautiful way. Instead of tents there are now spacious and modern chalets. Service is impeccable, the food delicious, and the setting unbeatable, especially if you plan to go gorilla tracking. Michael, our butler, kept our room spotless and even cleaned our hiking boots - so well in fact we thought he'd gone out and purchased new ones. We had a wonderful 3 night stay!
